It is the thesis of the project to show how the works of these two persons, when correlated, create an effective model for the pastoral counselor.  The paper outlines the theory of Winnicott who was a member of the British school of object relations. It takes the position that science and faith, even evolution and creation, are not incompatible but can strengthen one another.  The first chapter tracks the rise of tension between science and religion.  Chapter two examines essential strands of the Christian doctrine of creation with special emphasis on the theologies of Barth, Tillich, and John Cobb.
