From Islam’s inception, female scholars have played a crucial role in nurturing women’s religious identity and spiritual connection. However, today in the American Muslim community, the presence of female scholars and spiritual guides remains largely absent in most local communities, limiting opportunities for women to access religious mentorship and leadership. By examining two historical female scholarly archetypes—their early lives, teaching methods, and approaches to spiritual modeling—this analysis identifies the factors that granted them religious authority while also exploring the diversity in their educational, cultural, and social strategies to enhance religious connectedness among women and their communities. The study is underpinned by the framework of Spiritual Modeling by Doug Osman and Carl Thoresen, along with Syed Attas’s Islamic Education model, which exemplify the necessity of interpersonal relationships between teachers and students, fostering women’s spiritual growth through modeling. By analyzing historical practices, this research addresses these contemporary realities of female religious authority. The study concludes with recommendations for institutions to better engage and support local female scholars and learned women, ultimately aiming to strengthen women’s spiritual identity and communal belonging. Despite affirming youth leadership, leaders have more often commodified children, teens, or young adult ministries rather than developing age-appropriate resources to support Gen Z and Alpha’s interest in spirituality. Age-segregation in U.S. Christian ministry contexts has limited teen’s participation in intergenerational conversations about encountering God, navigating cultural pluralism, and Christian spiritual formation. An over-emphasis on performance and hurry within U.S. evangelical and charismatic ministries has limited teens’ discernment, experiential understanding of God’s character, and ability to build healthy rhythms for life and ministry. Without sufficient modeling, support, and protection, teens have lacked opportunities to experience spirituality, form identities based on their experiences, and steward their unique gifts within community. Synthesizing the strengths of Spiritual Direction and Prophetic ministry may best equip teens to enter into the “search-encounter-transformation” process that has come to characterize contemporary Renewalist spirituality.\r\n\r\nUltimately, Latino/a/x approaches to community may inform more grounded spiritual practices in renewalist youth ministry contexts like Mosaic Church in Seattle, Washington. During a time of increasing U.S. social transformation and latinization, U.S. Latino/a/x communities’ approaches to belonging and social difference (mestizaje), shared testimony (testimonios), family (familismo), solidarity (solidaridad), life in community (en convivencia), and encountering God in everyday life (lo cotidiano) may support U.S. youth ministries to navigate change. Specifically, Latino/a/x Pentecostal patterns of utilizing testimony as a conduit for shared spiritual direction may influence renewalist ministry contexts like Mosaic Youth Ministry to develop a deeper sense of shared identity. Ultimately, my act of ministry project explored whether using Harvard Project Zero thinking routines in small group discussion could support a focus group of Mosaic teens to engage with elders’ testimonies latinamente. \r\n\r\nFor my act of ministry, I interviewed 4 Mosaic Church adults (18+) about an experience they had with God, Jesus, or the Holy Spirit. From the interviews, I rewrote 3 case studies to share with Mosaic teens. Next, I designed a pre-test and post-test to measure teens’ vocabulary and background knowledge. I designed discussion questions based on Bloom’s taxonomy, teen’s lexile levels, Harvard Project Zero’s Connect, Extend, Challenge, Creative Questions, and Think, Puzzle, Explore thinking routines. I met with 6 middle and high school students (12-18) who had differing amounts of experience with spiritual encounter to discuss these encounter narratives over 5 weeks in Fall 2023. At the end, teens reflected on what they had received from the project and their remaining questions.\r\n\r\nThe results of this research demonstrate that responding to case studies within small group contexts can be an effective way to support teen’s vocabulary development about spirituality. Responding to case studies may support teens to generate questions about their own spirituality, identify their own interests, and connect with others. First, the project director researched demographics of the Forest Park area to: (1) identify the Hispanic population, (2) its characteristics, and (3) trends that contributed to the assessment of needs. Second, the project director conducted interviews with local \r\nagencies, churches, schools, and city leaders to ascertain what services and resources are available to the Hispanic population. Third, the project director conducted a Hispanic community survey with a selected group using focus groups to discover what needs and \r\nproblems exist. For one such container, this paper explores the Eucharistic Meal, an adaptive re-integration of the symbolic Eucharistic ritual with shared communal meals, inspired by early Church gatherings. Taking the best learnings from Chicago, Illinois Restorative Justice Hubs of which in 2023 there are 7 direct providing hubs in various underserved neighborhoods supported in collaboration by 5 partner hubs providing research, training and co-ordination.The practical application of safe spaces, hospitality, mentoring, and vocational training in some hubs are accompanied with limited theological support while the majority are ethics-based and non-religious in their identity or mission. Isaiah"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Oakville Adventist Company (OSDA) was a congregation that had not been growing and had no active presence in the community of Oakville. To help address these concerns, a leadership retreat was designed and implemented that used Appreciative Inquiry (AI) as a process to help the leadership team develop a clear vision for outreach to the community of Oakville. There were seven leaders who participated, and the outcomes of the retreat were analyzed. The project was aimed at facilitating the development of leadership team vision for the residents living in this community. Using AI processes, the leadership team looked at the vision for the Oakville community, developed a vision statement and committed to designing ways to serve the community needs. Elementary schools involved in this project were The Bailey School in the Longview Independent School District as well as Birch Elementary and Parkway Elementary, both in the Pine Tree Independent School District. Utilizing the Community Assessment project model, the director undertook an assessment of the demographic data and community needs related to families with elementary students in Longview to establish the project’s foundation. Next, the director determined local resources available to meet identified needs of these Longview families with elementary students. At that juncture, the director explored and investigated regional models and methods of community needs-based ministry to families with elementary students to determine best practices. Ge researched and ranked the area's available resources to produce a resource for a risk management assessment. The project director then explored the field of emergency response to develop an annotated bibliography and produce a report on best practices. A combination of individual and group pre-test, post-test, case studies, and role-plays directed the project director to the proper instruments for the emergency response strategy. It continues considering Old and New Testament Scriptures as they relate to community formation.
