Doors of reconciliation can be opened by the grace of God. Using examples of conflict this theory is applied to parish life, addressing certain phenomena in the contemporary church such as resistance to change and group thinking, particularly as it is manifested in conflict between pastors and parishioners.  The theory is also used interactively with family systems theory and applied to aspects of ministry within the larger church. Demonstrating an improved understanding of conflict, improving existing styles and skills of conflict management, and developing strategies that facilitate reconciliation were the goals of this project.  The project methodology included lectures, discussion, role plays, case studies, and questionnaires on conflict management. Examination of post-evaluation data indicates goals were reached. An informal demographic questionnaire was completed by each deacon. The level of understanding was determined using a Likert scale questionnaire and a conflict inventory instrument in the pre/post study interview. The results indicated that overall the project may have enabled the deacons to better understand their role in conflict resolution.
