The project was conducted by teaching seminars directed at each aspect of reconciliation, as defined by the author. The primary purpose of the project is to reveal to church leadership the necessity of dealing with conflict in a biblical manner. The ultimate goal is to lead the focus group to develop a strategy for healing relationships in times of conflict, and then to create a desire within the church to adopt that strategy. All the material within the project is designed to approach the positive side of conflict. The sermons focus on the biblical material while the small group sessions deal with both biblical and secular materials. It is this author's conviction that congregational leaders who have a disciplined spiritual life and are trained in conflict transformation skills will be better able to lead their communities through conflict in a healthy manner. The author developed and facilitated a four-day retreat for congregational leaders practicing classical spiritual disciplines, exploring theological and biblical themes and learning conflict transformation skills.
