The project director researched discipleship methods, aspects, formation, and models. Following the research, the compiled an annotated bibliography of selected discipleship models and then conducted an appraisement of selected discipleship models. From there, the project director surveyed the congregation and reviewed the existing discipleship making methods. The results of these inquires provided the project director with the needed information to develop reports on current practice and spiritual health. To fashion his learning into an enhanced strategy, he did research into strategy creation process from which he developed a report. The fruit of all the research was used to develop an enhanced strategy. A select team was then gathered to assist in the manufacture of a presentation. The team delivered the presentation to the pastors and elders. The pastors and elders asked for application details. Once provided, the strategy was accepted. The project director conducted an internal audit to produce reports that detailed the involvement of church members in spiritual growth opportunities offered at the church. The director explored the field of discipleship and spiritual growth to determine essential components of effective spiritual growth strategies, producing an annotated bibliography and a research report. A Discipleship Strategy Team was created. The team was composed of certain members from the church’s Strategic Action Team and additional select members from within the church. The project director shared his findings with the team, provided necessary training, and guided them in the development of a strategy for spiritual growth. The Senior Pastor's admonition to congregants to prepare spiritually to enter the forthcoming new sanctuary forms the project rationale. Using narrative inquiry methods, the intervention seeks to demonstrate the value of liturgical preparation to sacred space dwelling and spiritual sanctification. The researcher collects and codes narrative responses as intuitive, reflective, contemplative or interpretive and intersects these ideas with spatial, symbolic and sensible aesthetics. The researcher did a qualitative review of literature on the impact of mental illness, particularly schizophrenia; facilitated focus groups and interviews with professionals from the fields of psychiatry, psychology, and religion, as well as lay people; and examined a case study of a family with a mentally ill son. The professional goals were to increase the project director's knowledge of servant leadership to increase the project director's skill in curriculum development.The project director equipped selected men with servant leadership skills through the instruction of the developed curriculum. Since the terrorist attacks of 9/11 there has been an increase of negative rhetoric among Southern Baptists towards Muslims. This thesis-project asks to what extent a lack of narrative empathy towards Muslims can be altered in the life of the Southern Baptist leader thus enabling the leader, consequently the denomination, to better understand and communicate the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad as embodiments of spiritual discipline and peaceful living. The theoretical framework and in-depth qualitative interviews provide invaluable insights into the dynamics and use of anti-Islamic rhetoric among Southern Baptists. Concrete strategies of action are proposed, such as strategic personal encounters between Southern Baptists and Muslims which when combined with a better understanding of Islam can help uncover the Southern Baptist denominations preconceived prejudices and misunderstandings of Islam that so often hinder constructive dialogue. The key to reducing stress among ministers is the Sabbath lifestyle which includes practicing the disciplines of prayer, silence, feasting and fellowshipping in addition to identifying the signs and symptoms of stress. The Sabbath lifestyle empowers ministers with coping skills that can be personalized and implemented consistently as they progress and deal with the daunting demands and responsibilities of ministry. This project tested and compared the stress levels of the research and control groups before and after teaching four courses (disciplines) in the context of a Sabbath lifestyle to the research group only. During the retreat, four activities relative to the four courses were practiced by the research and control groups to determine if the courses had an impact on the activities to reduce stress among ministers. The project also revealed the effectiveness of the instructor, research site, courses, retreat, and activities. The project revealed strengths, weaknesses, and missteps.
