The author used mixed research methodology to find quantitative and qualitative results from the local church that he pastored, Chinese Christian Union Church-West (CCUC-W), and four other Chicago area churches. Based on the available data, both the quantity and quality index of CCUC-W were low, and this information was a danger signal of decline. The pastor needed a new approach to guide this church to healthy growth. The author used the qualitative research method for this research. An analysis of the interviews with eight Korean pastors who led adaptive change concluded that Korean cultural traits did influence how congregations reacted to adaptive challenges and as a result, affected how pastors led the change.
