The report began with a theological and missiological foundation about church health and missionality, composed by a storyline of the most important reflections on church growth and mission over the last fifty years, from the Church Growth Movement until the Missional Church Conversation, with emphasis on the Transformational Church. Following that, in order to understand and contextualize the Transformational Church marks of health into the Brazilian church, the cultures of Brazil and the US were compared in search of how the cultural constructs of power distance, individualism/collectivism, uncertainty avoidance and others can work either as obstacles or facilitators of health and missionality in Brazil. The last part of the project was in-depth interviews with senior pastors of forty-five churches from different denominations and regions of Brazil about leadership practices, evangelism, worship, prayer, local and global missions, small groups, involvement with the city, assimilation of new believers, as well as about the hindrances those churches face in order to be healthy and missional. The main conclusions of the research were that the Transformational Churches in Brazil show similar marks of the American ones: they discern the context with a missionary mentality, embrace the values of vibrant leadership, relational intentionality and prayerful dependence, and engage the right actions of worship, community and mission. However, the Brazilian Transformational Churches have to face major obstacles to be healthy and missional, especially the teachings of the Prosperity Theology, financial problems, and the lack of commitment of their members to the mission of God."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Trinity Evangelical Divinity School"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["c654e922-76d0-4427-ac29-e286b7997781"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799719984312614912,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:58:45.762Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T18:06:53Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T03:11:15Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"84a6bf0c-8bc3-4d36-8eac-cc9ef21aa256","accessControl_ssim":["87b61f17-8f05-4251-9cb4-08fc4e5a53bf"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["An Assessment of the Mission Ministries of Arlington Heights United Methodist Church, Fort Worth, Texas"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T18:06:53Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:02:28Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["b58ffc2c-179c-4680-bc11-487805ff53c9"],"hasLease_ssim":["952f6f7e-1dc2-412a-8686-467ec7c3d920"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Perkins School of Theology"],"advisor_tesim":["Mark Wesley Stamm"],"year_tesim":["2017"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Mary K Spradlin"],"publisher_tesim":["Perkins School of Theology"],"subject_tesim":["Lay Church work","Congregations","Evangelistic work","Methodist Church"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project proposes to help one congregation move from a one-way model of missional giving toward a model of mission ministries that emphasizes relationship-building, empowerment and community development. Recognizing that there are many facets to preaching, i.e., preacher's persona and theological skill-set, this study attempts to settle on a localized operative theology of preaching. A preacher's operative theology involves the preacher's specific influences that shape his/her preaching. Some of these influences stem deep in the historical past, particularly to the Enlightenment, and eventually splintering in various directions. Yet, there are contemporary emphases that can dictate a preaching style, emphases that energetically affect congregations along the spiritual pathways of healing, liberation and reconciliation. This localized operative theology of preaching finds restorative justice programs as an agreeable partner. Restorative justice, as an aboriginal cultural contribution, stands against Western-style notions of justice, especially intent on punishment for offenses. Restorative justice programs, assuming the form of a Circle model of dialogue, are designed to help participants heal and empower each other. Circles are founded on the principle that social wounds are not isolated events. This idea that crimes are connected to systemic problems characterizes a shift that leads to greater community responsibility in the healing process. The mutuality regarding the partnership between preaching and Circle models involves a pedagogical strategy in that both ministries reinforce each other. Circles could continue the preaching conversation, empower a congregational preaching voice, help connect the preacher and the congregation, shape a communal theological reflection, help concretize theology, and help dismantle alienating ideologies by encouraging authentic feeling and positive values. This Circle resource prevents an individualist pedagogy in regard to preaching in favor of the team concept. In this team concept, the congregation helps shape the persona and theology of the preacher, while the preacher's focus concerns the authentic 'preaching' voice of the congregation."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Aquinas Institute of Theology"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["416f1c5f-a1c7-4596-b214-83b6abadee9c"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130444762185728,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:31:42.503Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T17:52:16Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:44:01Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"63ed52e8-1d51-4967-a2ef-5717a8644a68","accessControl_ssim":["53c4987b-fe79-48c5-b5e4-aedc37bbd092"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Does providing small group worship to the homebound and chronically ill congregant reconnect them to their faith community?"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T17:52:15Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:03:24Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["73f50beb-1f92-42d8-921a-0a0a5b2ce365"],"hasLease_ssim":["12950993-e302-4203-9fea-6c35937e7c24"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Michael S Koppel"],"year_tesim":["2017"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. During the past decade, at SAUMC, the need to reach the next generation has reached a critical point. The community around the church holds multiple mosaic identities which identifies which were utilized in developing the strategy to reach this narrowed demographic. Current literature on the topic and strategic planning assist in identifying key methodologies St. Andrew's can implement. The millennial generation desires a church that reflects ancient aspects while blending contemporary distinctiveness. This change in ministry thinking, style, and context provides the church with the perfect opportunity to evolve. This project identifies strategies utilized by churches that are successfully reaching the largest and most unchurched population in the United States. These strategies inform the future planning of SAUMC as it seeks to reach millennials in Virginia Beach, Virginia."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5e492469-490e-44a3-90c1-17560a603bc2"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799717171235913728,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:14:03.003Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T17:37:32Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:03:18Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"acac99d7-a25b-4b9b-b1d3-4d24eb6c3757","accessControl_ssim":["1a7e1016-8e37-4dac-a4e2-6c9204371184"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Inclusion of people with disabilities in corporate worship"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T17:37:31Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:07:14Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["3d85028d-8b77-4859-ad60-f4301355fe54"],"hasLease_ssim":["316f6a28-ab24-431c-8069-7fbc1e044fb3"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Biblical Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Dave Marks"],"year_tesim":["2017"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Stephen M Wilburn"],"publisher_tesim":["Biblical Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Congregations","Worship","People with disabilities--Religious life","Evangelicalism"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project investigates the necessity and practice of people with disabilities in corporate worship in the Evangelical church.
