This project is qualitative in nature; case study research was the primary methodology employed. A biblical theology of inter-cultural community was defined focusing on spirituality, hospitality, and missionality. Ethnographic tools were utilized to determine the emic perspective of the multi-cultural setting of Bethel Christian Fellowship. Characteristics of inter-cultural leaders in a multi-cultural setting were discovered. Transformational dynamics needed to shift a local church to an inter-cultural mindset were described. Synthesizing these insights the researcher delineated a strategy for building a House of Prayer for All Nations."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Bethel Seminary (St. Paul, MN)"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["fccbc3d7-874c-42e3-8a20-621b107c56c7"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791132786464129024,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:08:55.724Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:40:37Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:28:34Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"fef2dda3-3ce8-49cf-bcd4-211dac84b8d0","accessControl_ssim":["cafa9c6f-0544-45d3-9b11-f9100ba122d6"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Media: prevenience, justification, and sanctification: introducing and using technology as a means of grace in the life and ministry of the church"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:40:36Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T05:25:14Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["2cf32b93-9a50-4618-9483-39f50066d7eb"],"hasLease_ssim":["05c560a0-83ba-4418-b59b-0205bbfbe724"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["United Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Charles E Hendricks"],"year_tesim":["2005"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Bob Bartram"],"publisher_tesim":["United Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Congregations","Public worship--Audio-visual aids","United Methodist Church (U.S.). The problem that the project addresses is the challenge of introducing and using media in the life and ministry of all churches, regardless of the demographics of the congregation in relation to size, age or even financial status. The objective of the project is to show media as a means of grace to be used in the life of all churches, to give examples of its use, and to make the medium holy. When the technology of media is introduced (prevenience), explained and exemplified (justification), enabling all persons to find value in its use to proclaim the gospel, making it holy in the eyes of the local congregation (sanctification), another means of grace is recognized in the 21st century church's mission efforts. The project used a series of sessions in a workshop setting to introduce, instruct, and evaluate the use of media in the church life."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["United Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["f0f9c284-37b6-440c-96ab-39e6509e82ee"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130250342563840,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:28:37.090Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:40:04Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:28:56Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"09a852fe-1c97-4475-b7e5-115ec74f9d3c","accessControl_ssim":["cf794e77-d767-48c5-b4b5-4ca7af099095"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The role of leaders in the development of an intercultural church"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:40:03Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:23:27Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["3c07f790-c736-4518-8b6c-a12f575318b9"],"hasLease_ssim":["f1f15585-0fdc-4942-be03-6b25b145c973"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Trinity Evangelical Divinity School"],"advisor_tesim":["Peter T Cha"],"year_tesim":["2010"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Michael Joseph Morris"],"publisher_tesim":["Trinity Evangelical Divinity School"],"subject_tesim":["Leadership--Religious aspects--Christianity","Congregations","Cultural pluralism"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This Doctor of Ministry Project was designed to discover how leaders facilitate the transformation of mono-cultural churches into intercultural churches. The congregational story project, entitled Discovering Trinity's Angel, entailed videotaping long-time members, sharing remembrances of the innovative ways the congregation communicated the gospel throughout its history. These stories were shown in worship throughout Lent, 2006, and were accompanied by presentations on the influence of media in biblical and church history. The impact of biblical storytelling and the Discovering Trinity's Angel project were measured by both survey and focus groups. The project found that by experiencing the stories of its past, the congregation understood the challenge to further develop its digital culture ministry as consistent with its historic identity and mission."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["United Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["f0f9c284-37b6-440c-96ab-39e6509e82ee"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791127785177088000,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:49:26.124Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:23:15Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:12:40Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"e338362d-4835-4f4c-a003-c4140f4ef599","accessControl_ssim":["29778fc8-0afa-4651-8730-7f5ccf08e1c5"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Applying the process of genetic expression to church revitalization"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:23:14Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:37:48Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["f157ce4d-7a67-42c4-810e-31f188598f3a"],"hasLease_ssim":["5dcde5cc-2fac-4d4f-9d0a-4d65c7536c7e"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Allan Karr"],"year_tesim":["2010"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Boyd Martin Evans"],"publisher_tesim":["Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Leadership--Religious aspects--Christianity","Congregations","Church renewal--Baptists"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Stagnation and decline can often be puzzling to many church leaders. Churches can have and do all the 'right things': congregational unity, biblically faithful worship and teaching, baptisms, large missions receipts, deep savings, community outreach programs, and denominational notoriety--and yet dontinue to experience numerical stagnation and even decline. This project discusses the local church as a living organism exploring the theory that every church is unique such that identifying and actively expressing its congregational DNA can lead to revitalization. In this study the responses to a series of congregational surveys, interviews, and inventories were 'interpreted' and used to identify a church's DNA. As a result the church identified and realized the difference between its actual and merely 'aspirational' core values, discovered the gifts and passions of its people, and developed and implemented an informed DNA-based revitalization strategy."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["e59d8a7f-b140-41e1-9d1f-4e98aaa1d973"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133025418870784,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:12:43.609Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:20:36Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:35:47Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"5633bf52-c347-4c8e-83db-d3c85d459e78","accessControl_ssim":["01c62d49-c017-4c1e-b4fc-d4a47c07a942"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["One new humanity: an exploration of the factors that contribute to the formation and sustenance of multirecial congregations"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:20:35Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:39:21Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["f8f451a8-d863-44e3-b7cd-39bd35588257"],"hasLease_ssim":["283760bf-73fe-4d39-a67f-a6fde082369b"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Ashland Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Todd Scoles"],"year_tesim":["2010"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Ikwo Umosen"],"publisher_tesim":["Ashland Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Congregations","Race relations","Church on the North Coast (Lorain, Ohio)","Racially mixed people"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The purpose of this project was to discover the factors that assisted in the formation and sustenance of the multiracial non-denominational church of the North Coast, in Lorain, Ohio. An overwhelming majority of the participants said love and acceptance were very important factors in breaking the barriers that prevent the building and sustaining of multiracial congregations."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Ashland Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["beb93775-0b27-4cc6-9fb0-f2ad62e68517"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130707820544000,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:35:53.375Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:14:36Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:44:49Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"0dbe7372-762f-47cb-a79f-5552d46dcf4f","accessControl_ssim":["b24c92a7-3703-4d6d-9db3-f39a1f1de7b2"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The implications of generational theory for crafting of worship in the local church"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:14:35Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:30:30Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["2542f609-1bbd-4dd8-bd57-556b03863b1c"],"hasLease_ssim":["13b6f872-c93a-4abd-89a8-30fc1261dee8"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Martha L Moore-Keish"],"year_tesim":["2010"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Todd R Wright"],"publisher_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Congregations","Intergenerational relations"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Churches have always been comprised of multiple generations, but a lengthening life-span means that churches may now include five generations, each with their own characteristics, values, and voice.
