The interventions designed to bring this ideal, came to life from a model emphasizing adaptation and shared learning. A four-month sermon series and an accompanying Bible study emphasized the power of remembering. Other interventions include a revival using former pastors who remembered the church's spiritual journey during their pastorates. A naming of the new building designed to claim the best of the church's past and to repent of it's failings. The project leader seeks to target both traditional and postmodern members of all ages and lengths of membership that will result in a wide cross section from the congregation. This will enable a balanced approach to the understanding needed to properly evaluate past history, define current growth and allow for creative planning for the future. This model will address both the traditional and postmodern cultures each with its own unique needs and desires. The project leader wishes for both groups to grow numerically and spiritually within the church. The challenge will be to lead both generations to appreciate one another and to allow that appreciation to lead them to cooperating together in the spirit of unity. The desired outcome of this research project if for both traditional and postmodern members to understand each other's various needs and to be willing to accept ministries that will meet the needs of both groups within the same congregation and in the community. The project was deemed a success as the congregation followed the shared praxis movements to arrive at the conclusion that God's will for the congregation includes striving for the kingdom of God by spreading love to others while continuing in the listening and discerning process."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Phillips Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["0f3d74d9-8a9b-4580-a458-c2d78a76b977"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799718129714069504,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:29:17.078Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:32:49Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:46:44Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"8c31cfc5-1c83-4647-84fd-d76605744c08","accessControl_ssim":["dc467e81-7315-47b0-a8bb-950617b105c9"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Equipping selected leaders to manage conflict at First Baptist Church, Homer, Louisiana"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:32:48Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:14:22Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["cfcf704d-85bd-4dae-b319-3cfcdfb70ae9"],"hasLease_ssim":["e50034ad-f398-4698-a976-bf58eefbf4a7"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Joel B Sherrer"],"year_tesim":["2002"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["William B Blanton"],"publisher_tesim":["New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["First Baptist Church (Homer, La)","Baptists","Congregations","Conflict management"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The purpose of the project in ministry was to equip a select group of church leaders to resolve conflict in First Baptist Church of Homer, Louisiana. In an eight-week study, participants explored materials in the following areas: (1) conflict types and conflict recognition, (2) biblical conflict resolution, (3) understanding one's conflict management style, (4) forgiveness and reconciliation, (5) communication: listening and assertion skills, (6) conflict coaching, (7) mediation, and (8) a mediation case study. The curriculum included information gathered through research as well as practical learning experiences. Practical experiences included a conflict inventory to help participants to understand better their preferred style of conflict management; role play to help participants practice listening and assertion skills and to recognize signs and levels of conflict; and case studies to provide learners with practical experience in utilizing conflict management concepts. The course was designed to equip church leaders to help others resolve personal conflicts."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5e492469-490e-44a3-90c1-17560a603bc2"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799719228195995648,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:46:44.673Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:26:58Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:13:13Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"08e71d94-a5fc-4728-9f97-ba280742ead7","accessControl_ssim":["355b954c-f37c-46bb-8986-20580731e50a"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Starting small groups: for the maintenance and mission of the congregation"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:26:57Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:22:24Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["ddcf4efd-c422-4494-9070-cd5ed379f5ff"],"hasLease_ssim":["a5731e83-ed9d-43b1-84b5-8e0928bba193"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Hartford Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Efrain Agosto"],"year_tesim":["2002"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Robert K Miller"],"publisher_tesim":["Hartford Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Congregations","Church group work"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Small groups guided by Christ's love provide the means for a congregation to grow spiritually and numerically as pastoral care is offered through mutual support, commitment, and accountability.
