Recognizing the inevitability of conflict, it is essential for Christians to navigate through conflict in a biblical manner. This project researched the field of conflict management and identified biblical passages that enabled the project director to develop a curriculum for the purpose of training the deacons. The deacons are eleven men, chosen by the congregation for the purpose of protecting unity and ministering the needs of the church body. The deacons participated in seven hours of training that led them to develop a biblical perspective and approach to managing conflict. This training included a variety of teaching techniques and evaluations. The author of this paper argues that preaching can be a catalyst for moving a congregation from fear to joy. Preachers have the opportunity to proclaim the Word of God so that through the power of the Holy Spirit transformation occurs and faith is deepened. This study determined through surveys, interviews, and research behaviors these pastors believed effective for church growth and the application of these behaviors in the church. The most important discovery that the author made was the state of disconnect among many pastors between what they believed about church growth and what was practiced in the local church. This state of disconnect may be a factor in church decline. This project addresses the hurt and pain of the minority group at Grace First Presbyterian Church as result of this change and the need to engage in the practice of healing and reconciliation. Utilizing ethnographic research as a pastoral practice, through practices of listening and discerning, the congregation will engage in co-authoring the future. This study examined a system for resuscitating and healing churches that have suffered trauma. The hypothesis is that empathy, justice-mindedness, and humility, partnership with the Godhead, and koinonia, are the prescription for resuscitating and healing a church that has been traumatized. A qualitative methodology was employed utilizing surveys, interviews, and observations.
