Supervised subgroups of the congregation met in homes, called 'homegroups.'  The homegroup leaders went through leadership training touching on areas such as theology for homegroups, biblical fellowship, crowd breakers, church outreach, sharing your testimony, servanthood, biblical caring, and prayer in small groups.  Another subgroup called marriage-obics was instituted for young marrieds first, and then opened to all who were married.  The strength of this ministry was in its practicality and spontaneity.  Measurement of success was made by written evaluation of the participants. The biblical model of conflict resolution between Aramaic-speaking and Greek-speaking Christians provided inspiration for the project.  A questionnaire was designed to survey and gather data on conflict management of Chinese-born and American-born Chinese church leaders.  Next, training sessions were developed with six areas of emphasis.  They were conducted at three Chinese churches in different geographical locations. The thesis states that training a core of disciplers can lead to a renewed laity that will train others in discipleship.  The strategy consists of devising a discipleship model based on Ephesians 4:11-16.  Eight participants were trained in theology, church growth, leadership skills, and group dynamics.  They were exposed to the four dimensions of church growth.  Evidence indicated that the group was renewed and grew collectively in all four areas but not individually. The method which this project follows is experiential and mystagogical.  The project concludes that significant growth in spiritual formation can and does take place in the worship service. Second, initial responses of long-time members differed significantly from initial resonses of 'beginners in faith'. Third, lay leaders often carry leadership burdens which sometimes hinder their ability to participate fully in worship.  Fourth, the person of the pastor plays a large role in the spiritual formation of the congregation.
