Individuals discovered the unique needs of their congregation through guided lectures and brainstorming sessions utilizing historical, personal and biblical resources.  They then defined biblical understandings of New Testament church growth.  From this they developed strategies for growth that addressed their specific needs, and embraced these biblical insights.  The growth process, thus defined, involved and equipped participants for service in their respective congregations. It was a program developed by a group in the congregation under the author's leadership.  This program engaged a significant number from the congregation in a study throughout ten months of a year that involved biblical, historical, theological and pastoral aspects of Christian worship, and the development of a planning process for worship services. Within a single congregation people differ from one another in terms of politics, education, economics, theology, and background.  Sometimes these differences cause creative and positive interactions, at other times friction and turmoil.  This thesis attempts to look at diversity in the church from several perspectives--biblical, theological, and behavioral science--and to develop a set of strategies for making diversity a positive element in a particular congregation. Secular organizational and human relations theories such as group development, open systems, negotiation and management styles are adaptable and useful in parish leadership.  Each of four cases, researched according to the Case Method Institute, was taught and critiqued at least twice to test relevance and learning effectiveness.  The writing and test teaching of the cases and theory resources were effective in teaching the dynamics of parish conflict and demonstrated the significance and relevance of behavioral and ethical theories to the managerial task in parish conflict. This research project states that a ministry study committee can define the major factors which influence ministry in the light of relocation.  The project uses Kurt Lewin's theory of change (unfreeze - float - refreeze) as a blueprint to guiding the research.  Demographic studies and a ministry attitude survey provide the data from which the conclusions are drawn. Crisis counseling programs of these churches were inadequate to meet congregational needs.  The purpose of this study was to develop a joint interchurch crisis counseling program which would be based on a psychological and theological point of view.  A twenty-four hour Christian crisis counselor training program was developed for six target churches, emphasizing a biblical basis for crisis counseling and Adam's nouthetic counseling system. The purpose of this is to help lay members of the contemporary evangelical church recover a sense of 'ownership' in the Bible, thereby allowing the written word to become an effective tool in critiquing, among other things, secular tendencies among modern evangelical Christians. Worship is defined in terms of the biblical materials.  A survey of child development literature is employed in the creation and evaluation of components for worship which involve children.  Planning resources for a church year are developed.
