The purpose was to encourage quality decision-making with the goal of diminishing, while not entirely eliminating, the heat of the crucible that inevitably burns at such strategic times. How would the physical move of the church change the congregation's character? Could the church re-brand its identity to reach the new community based on their expressed needs? He utilized Dr Kennon L Callahan's Twelve Keys to an Effective Church as a base document, and in the conduct of a sixteen-hour churchwide workshop sought to apply Dr Callahan's material to his local ministry setting.  From that process of teaching and interacting with the workshop's participants, enabling strategies for applying Dr Callahan's work were developed.
