Chapter 1 included an overview of Harpeth Community Church, along with the rationale, limitations, and a statement of purpose of the project. Chapter 2 examined the theological basis for 'holistic Christian conversion' and featured a detailed look at biblical prayer, the Word of God for conversion purposes, and some of the needs presented by unbelievers before their conversion. Chapter 3 detailed the process of conversion, and included several popular and new scales for measuring the spiritual condition of the unbeliever. Several popular conversion programs were examined in detail. Chapter 4 introduced materials developed for the course, a meeting format, pre-training for Christians who join the class as helpters, and an overview of the actual course material. Chapter 5 concluded the project with an analysis of the program, the volunteers that participated, and the conversion of spiritual seekers. Other topics included the eventual improvement of the course for broader usage and the furtherance of the study in the future. The project was developed as an attempt to provide a better alternative to the Alpha course for broad use within the Restoration Movement. The course and project were very successful and the goals were realized."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Southern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["55f1694e-f3f1-43ea-8ca9-da9a2899defe"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791128286127980544,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:57:23.869Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T06:31:32Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:24:12Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"a266e179-77b2-4fce-bd1a-0a9f05a2ccd8","accessControl_ssim":["6c9dee05-59f7-429b-bf32-b88910f912cd"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["'Enter his gates with thanksgiving': rethinking the experience of Christian initiation"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T06:31:30Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:51:51Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["489ec1fc-c9d1-4ac1-8dcb-077a6c881dcd"],"hasLease_ssim":["089c5ad1-377a-4538-976d-ddd18832401e"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago"],"advisor_tesim":["Richard H Bliese"],"year_tesim":["1998"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Louis J Quetel"],"publisher_tesim":["Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago"],"subject_tesim":["Mission of the church","Pastoral theology--Lutheran Church","Conversion","Initiation rites--Christianity"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project proposes that Christian initiation is a primary, essential component of mission-centered pastoral ministry. There is a theological discussion of the phenomenon, a review of traditional and novel criticisms of AA, challenges AA presents to Christendom and new areas for investigation."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["San Francisco Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["38714359-d032-4ed0-ae3f-cb82c8f65a92"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799717938028085248,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:26:14.273Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T03:06:06Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:46:01Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"46bbb9c1-8499-4ece-90a8-75ccd79c372b","accessControl_ssim":["c6634541-b921-4f81-862f-ee5faf46dbaa"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["A project introducing seminarians and spouses to the concept of Christian psychospiritual formation"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T03:06:05Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:11:54Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["7dea0f93-7750-4bf9-afe0-22062894130c"],"hasLease_ssim":["931e5e3e-c516-48a9-83cd-846d432d15ca"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Dan Rainbolt"],"year_tesim":["1993"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["H Jack Perkins"],"publisher_tesim":["Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Seminarians","Spiritual formation","Conversion"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project, through research, designing a spiritual formation class, and project evaluation, explored the process of conversion through which the indwelling Christ transforms the whole person (i e, spiritual, emotional, intellectual, social, and physical). It was an attempt to examine how character development principles are internalized and integrated. Participants received guidance for experiencing authentic well-being. Well-being enables Christians to function in a harmonious and peaceful relationship with God, self, others, and the world. Research revealed a need for seminaries to become more intentional about designing wholistic character development programs, academic and student life programs.
