She decided to look more closely at the process that takes place between reading the text and up to the point of delivering the sermon. She read the literature to look for different methods to increase and release creativity. She gathered a group of respondents to listen to and afterwards discuss three of her sermons which she was to prepare using these methods. Her goal was to see if they could tell any difference in her way of preaching before and after the usage of these methods. After applying the different methods to her sermon preparation, the focus group could not see any difference, and the author still had her anxiety. She discovered that her problem was perfectionism combined with low self-esteem and a struggle to make meaning of her life experience in light of the biblical text interpreted in her specific church tradition."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["d722638c-a7e2-43f3-93ff-4762bde0dde7"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133528214208512,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:20:43.111Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:00:04Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:39:52Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"59f0a5c5-c4c6-4af4-97d9-cc8edb18e458","accessControl_ssim":["89a0c378-a101-4f30-8978-dc6d31816c6f"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Organizational leadership for a postmodern world: inspiring creative expression"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:00:03Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:46:31Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["ce3dc7da-7627-4fd7-976d-bc2302caed66"],"hasLease_ssim":["7333c805-f7ed-4d7e-b80d-d82807a1e9b7"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Raymond F Pendleton"],"year_tesim":["2003"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["John M Horton"],"publisher_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Leadership--Religious aspects--Christianity","Creative ability"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This work focuses on developing an organizational leadership model in the context of a postmodern worldview. It is concerned with addressing questions influencing the current stage of the evangelical church and the subsequent impact on church leadership. The primary premise of the work is that by nature we are all creative beings. If God is a creator God, and we are created in His image, then there is something in us that seeks to create, and see the works of our hands and say, 'it is good.' Therefore, a goal of leadership is to bring out creativity in people. The term creative expression is used in this work to describe the creative process evident in all disciplines. Organizational leadership in a postmodern world must inspire creative expression. Specific dynamics for effective organizational leadership will be examined. We introduce two ministry sites that will serve as our laboratory for the practical application and evaluation of this research. The thesis concludes with suggestions for returning the church to a more balanced and biblical foundation. By examining the cultural environment necessary to inspire to artist, it will be possible to develop the God-given creative expression in everyone. The practical outcome of this thesis will be an organizational leadership model for a postmodern world that inspires creative expression in people."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31b95ee0-a31c-43dc-8ec9-d97b30239a2d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130964890484736,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:39:58.536Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T06:40:18Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:20:35Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"200c7f49-ba00-4069-ac44-6ae41bc75815","accessControl_ssim":["bd24ffdd-fa10-4ab4-9b84-beb407afc6af"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Creativity, fun, and play: God's gifts for the ministry of the local congregation"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T06:40:17Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:04:56Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["59b37b2f-0c8c-4736-a4d3-64ce8a5ddf23"],"hasLease_ssim":["716fc1d8-df50-4766-a314-4b5dca3daf07"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["San Francisco Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Walter T Davis"],"year_tesim":["1997"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Tom Plaizier"],"publisher_tesim":["San Francisco Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Pastoral theology","Play","Creative ability"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project challenges Christians to take a step of faith, to risk the way of Jesus, and to dare to play, to be creative, and to have fun.
