Without a practical and experiential example to follow, the people will not be able to hear the biblical story that will help them make positive spiritual commitments in their lives through the love of Jesus Christ. The preacher must regain and build their trust by having a good relationship with them and by telling biblical and contemporary stories that encourage their participation with the action of the text.  The easiest way to be truly inductive in our preaching is to start with a need of our people and take that need to the Scripture for God's help and response.  The inductive structures just naturally start with the particulars, the problems and the questions that lead to the biblical conclusions and their application. To attain this, the author wrote a seminal guide entitled Masterculture.  Four families were chosen from very different cultural backgrounds, including American, Haitian, Chinese, and Guyanese.  The Masterculture seminar was then held over a period of three months.  It included weekly meals, Bible studies and studies in cultural anthropology. These barriers which are real and psychological include culture, language, religion, ethnicity, and fear, among others.  The project was conducted over a period of 16 weeks and was designed so that participants would have 8 weeks of experiential learning. Twenty-one learning sessions were conducted with 9 participants.  This writer confirmed his belief that Christians need to be trained to witness effectively to internationals.  He also gained insight into how participantsovercame barriers in communicating the gospel to people of other cultures.  More specifically, however, this writer was able to appraise the dynamic relationships among culture, language, religion, and ethnicity in witnessing encounters.  Understanding the cultural context is foundational for witnessing. Learning the basic beliefs of Asian religions is essential in witnessing to their followers. In that conversation, we are invited into God's mission (missio dei) as partners. The thesis 'listens in' on conversation between two 'twin' congregations: St James United Church in Simcoe, Ontario, Canada, and Webster Memorial United Church in Kingston, Jamaica. A six-week Bible study on the epistle to the Romans was employed as a paradigmatic tool (model and story) for change. Dividing the participants into groups patterned after projected Christian locations in first-century Rome, the pastor alternately discussed Paul as a paradigm for herself, and guided the participants in discussing the epistle text.
