Two progressive steps accomplish this goal. First, endorsement of multicultural ministry applying to all areas of church life is secured through official action by the church. The church's written position on multicultural ministry makes it possible for emerging multiethnic leaders to function in the church. Second, a leadership development seminar is designed to equip participants with the knowledge, understanding and skills needed for leadership development in the multicultural context. Participants are trained in leadership principles relating to culture, character, and competency. The participants are already functioning leaders in the church and enter into mentoring relationships with potential leaders of a different ethnic background than their own. Through a process of analysis and informed planning, the church was able to articulate its core values, resulting in the formulation of a mission statement. A philosophy statement that defined the church's intentional ministries was created and implemented toward the church's preferred future. The research involved data collection through congregational surveys and discussion groups to describe contextual history, congregational perceptions, present conflicts. Careful study is made of the characteristics of postmodernism, along with a survey of about two dozen Campus Crusade staff in Germany--measuring their present effectiveness in evangelism. A three-day conference introduced the staff to this worldview. This group will analyze the pastorate from a multicultural perspective as well as barriers that impede growth and relationships among the laity.  The group will attempt to outline biblical and anthropological principles for multicultural ministry. Furthermore, the number of descendants of early Chinese immigrants has markedly increased. This paper summarizes the history of these Chinese people and their struggles as immigrants because of differences in background and culture.  It also examines the history of the Chinese Christian Churches in the United States, the challenges that they faced, the lessons to be learned from these challenges. In both cases, the methodology focused on the application of a narrative approach to the task of care. To accomplish that goal, the context was carefully studied, sources on cultural diversity were assembled for theological reflection, a methodology for a ministry project was devised, and a ministry project was undertaken, which was followed by a comprehensive evaluation of the ministry project. Case studies were formulated from on-site interviews and demographic data in order to identify similar tactics used in the revitalization processes. Observation about the essence of the churches' vitality emerged.
