The study explores the development of the biblical and theological history limiting women's vocational choices.  It traces the enactment, well into the 1960s, of 'disjoining' in the deaconess order.  Remembrances of affected women enflesh the archival records.  A theological framework is applied to assess the quality of the apology.  The disjoining and the apology are both stories of lost opportunity.  The women lost vocational expression and suffered economic and social loss. At the 2004 conference co-sponsored by Women's Orthodox Ministries and Education Network, three questionnaires showed that over 75% of American women believe restoring the Order of Deaconess is important. Historical and biblical-theological research leads to the preparation for, and approval of, an overture in Classis Alberta South and Saskatchewan, on the subject of the delegation of women to classis as deacons (but not as ministers, elders and evangelists).
