The project involved three phases. Phase one included the selection of participants from diverse cultural backgrounds, and designing of learning activities. Phase two was the actual training event. Phase three involved the post-training interview and evaluation of participants and the project director. Documents on deacon selection and training criteria were produced. As a result of that study, the task force created a specific ministry description for deacons and then shared its findings and the new ministry description with the congregation through a carefully designed plan of education.
