Answering 'Yes,' the second question was asked, 'When a deacon preaches, should he sound the same as a priest?' The answer was, 'No.' Finally, having shown through argument that there is a specific diaconal voice different from that of a priest, the question was asked, 'How is the diaconal voice taught?' The author designed, implemented, and tested a method of teaching the diaconal voice in the first semester of a deacon formation program. The project's purpose required a transition from a Deacon Family Ministry Plan to an identity-based deacon ministry plan. Participating deacons discovered their God-given identities through a combination of a spiritual gifts inventory, DISC Profile and one-on-one coaching provided by the candidate.
