From the research, the project director provided the substance used to create a five-session seminar to equip select deacons. The project director utilized various methodologies of instruction such as the 'Think-Pair-Share Strategy', a signed civenant/commitment card, and role-play so that the participants would achieve optimal learning. Experts in the field of instruction and deacon ministry provided evaluation to the project director in order to ensure completion of the stated project and professional goals. Recognizing the inevitability of conflict, it is essential for Christians to navigate through conflict in a biblical manner. This project researched the field of conflict management and identified biblical passages that enabled the project director to develop a curriculum for the purpose of training the deacons. The deacons are eleven men, chosen by the congregation for the purpose of protecting unity and ministering the needs of the church body. The deacons participated in seven hours of training that led them to develop a biblical perspective and approach to managing conflict. This training included a variety of teaching techniques and evaluations. Research from an annotated bibliography provided the resources for development of lesson plans in order to equip the selected group. The equipping included sessions that both explored and defined the concept of relationship-driven ministry. Deacons selected were asked to participate in three sessions equaling seven hours. These sessions included study of both Old and New Testament passages of Scripture supporting the concept of relationship-driven ministry. The researcher's hypothesis is: effective deacon ministries in selected large Southern Baptist churches will define the role of deacon scripturally as a role of service, will have carefully constructed job descriptions for which deacons are trained, and will hold deacons accountable for their assigned roles and will recognize their service. A literature review examines the words and texts related to the diaconate and the practice of deacon ministry from throughout church history. The research procedure was case-study research methodology. The process used to reach this goal was to, first, educate the deacons on the need of the church to take intentional steps in the assimilating adult new members.  Second, the deacons were trained and given strategic roles in the assimilation process.  Finally, the assimilation strategy was implemented and individual deacons were given follow-up assignments with new members that were monitored for a 12-week
