These suitability images contain non-task oriented factors.  Interviews with pastor nominating committee members reveal that the impact of suitability factors on the ultimate decision is not discussed.  In interviews with former pastor nominating committee members, task-oriented factors were not given as a prime factor in hiring.  Non-task oriented suitability factors were suggested as major concerns. Each session included Bible study, class exercises, the use of student journals, and assigned tasks to be accomplished between class sessions.  The course introduced the concept of transition moments as life situations requiring decisions, identified examples of those experiences in a midshipman's career, and related the Christian gospel to those moments as a resource for personal and spiritual growth.  A student evaluation of the course indicated that the concept of transition moments was understood and applied to personal experiences within the brigade. The author intervened with Transactional Analysis to identify factors that inhibited or facilitated the flow of energy.  Five hypotheses dealt with: 1) energizing ego states, 2) redirecting energy, 3) script decisions, 4) contracts, and 5) stroking.  In simulated situation and regular council meetings, data were gathered and redirecting energy considered.  Support was found that appropriately energized ego states facilitated decision-making, whereas inappropriately energized ego states inhibited decision-making. A t-test applied to the sample test means demonstrated that the post-test mean was significantly higher than the pre-test mean. The purpose was to improve faith resources for contemporary Christians.  In a series of ten lessons the project presented biographical statements and spiritually relevant issues.  A seven step decision-making process was the uniting theme.  Methods employed were sermons, pictures, role-playing, discussion, pre- and post-tests, and evaluation questionnaires. Questionnaires describing situations which could occur at any church were sent to members of the congregation.  They were asked to rank up to three members with whom they would discuss the situation and to offer the reasons for their choices.  The results of the data collected show that there was an informal group of individuals who were perceived to be the decision makers. The results of the study supported this thesis and lead to the implication that churches need to understand that the manner in which decisions are made is as important as what is decided. New Testament leadership values are described.  The change in Session responsibilities from John Calvin to the present are reviewed.  The rationale for using Carver's model is explained.  Steps taken to implement the model are documented.
