It utilizes a method of Participatory Action Research in order to develop a model of communal discernment for congregational use. As a college course, The Theology of Discernment introduced students to the manner in which individuals from Scripture and Christian Tradition discovered God's desires for them. These models of discernment were adapted by students to create Personal Discernment Models for vocational discernment and to answer critical, ultimate life questions. One was a six-week interactive course; the other was an intensive one-day workshop.  Though there were some differences, both proved effective.  Seventeen volunteers participated and final assessments indicated increased levels of awareness and understanding.  Leadership ideas are suggested throughout, as well as an easily understood list of spiritual gifts, plus extensive bibliography.
