The equipping program model included a training seminar that equipped a select group of members in responsible evangelism and subsequent discipling relationships for the purpose of spiritual maturation. The project included the creation of a curriculum that functioned as a training tool to equip members in disciple-making. The seminar consisted of six sessions conducted over three days within a retreat setting. The project contains a literature review of the biblical foundation for church membership and the historical development of church membership, followed by two case studies. Church membership in America is declining, and many church leaders wrestle with the place of membership within their own organizations. Many church leaders overlook the role that a membership process can have in the development of disciples. The case studies included in this paper are two examples of churches that seek to use their membership process to enhance discipleship. These churches have a robust process that clearly communicates the expectations of the church with systems in place for accountability and follow-up. This project examines the biblical and historical roots of disciple-making and presents a method of equipping parents to disciple their children. This type of face-to-face disciple-making restores the highly relational nature of Christian discipleship. Through a workshop and ongoing contact with their pastor, parents were mentored in parent-child disciple-making and spent twenty weeks developing a disciple-making relationship with their teenage children. Fourteen adult LIFE group teachers participated. Seminar participants evaluated their own spiritual vitality through the use of a personal spiritual inventory. The eight-week study sought to empower students with an understanding of what being a disciple means and having an ability to implement the practices of disciples. At the conclusion of the workshop, students were equipped to begin meeting with two or three students, training them to be disciple-making disciples. The need for this training was significant due to an apparent void of university students who are disciple-making disciples. This qualitative research project focused on selected postmodern women and explored the manner in which their unique worldview shapes their mentoring preferences. The study found that the opportunity to choose the mentor, flexibility in schedule, and interaction built around shared life experiences are necessary elements for meeting the needs of the postmodern
