The project consisted of four stages: (1) exploring the internal demographics, (2) exploring existing models, (3) creating a strategy, and (4) presenting a new strategy for implementation. In  the first stage, I explored the internal demographics of Derma Baptist Church to establish discipleship effectiveness. I explored, in the second stage, existing strategy models of discipleship to discover the best practices for development and implementation of a new strategy. Stage three consisted of development of  the various stages of the new strategy. In stage three, members of Derma Baptist Church were selected and trained using collected data to move toward the completed strategy. I selected and trained a strategy team in discipleship methods to aid in the process of crafting a discipleship strategy. The strategy was informed  by research of discipleship models, best practices gleaned from those models, and  an internal questionnaire to determine implementation needs within the church. Following the training and presentation of my research, the strategy team aided me in creating the strategy specific to the context of First Baptist. I, along with the strategy team, presented the strategy to three age-based committees for their approval. The second phase of the project involved incorporating essential principles of family discipleship into a curriculum. This project researches and addresses the problem that less than five percent of churches in the United States have a lay disciple making culture. The hypothesis is that a healthy church will have a minimum of thirty percent of its laity actively involved in life-on-life relational disciple making that creates a tipping point in the culture of the church. Key to this study is the idea that Jesus Christ and his method should take priority. For this reason, the title is Christ´s mission through the local church versus the church´s mission about Christ. The research investigates the biblical and theological background to missional disciple making. Literature was investigated regarding missional ecclesiology, sociological findings in connection with disciple making environments, and disciple making training methods. Three case studies of missional disciple making churches were researched. The research investigated questions of training, obstacles, structure, systems, culture, pastoral priorities and vision for lay missional disciple making in the local church. \r\n\r\nThe findings suggest that the local church can achieve the vital work of winning, building, equipping, multiplying and empowering laity to do the Great Commission. To achieve this ministry there must be clear definitions, processes, tracking, metrics, and simple reproducible methods. Significant shifts must take place in many churches to engage, train, and empower laity. When a disciple making culture is achieved there is an unlocking of ministry potential through the local church. I then presented the research findings to the youth ministry disciple-making team. Next, the youth ministry disciple-making team and I developed and conducted assessments of the NZBC youth ministry. Then I complied the findings to develop a Generation Z youth disciple-making \r\nstrategy for NZBC youth ministry. Despite previous programs, the church lacked a clear, long-term process for making disciples. Through the project, I aimed to define a biblical understanding of a disciple, establish a biblical basis for disciplemaking, and research best practices. In phase one, I researched relevant materials to identify these best practices and  assessed the congregation’s diverse needs and spiritual maturity levels. In phase two, I collaborated with the strategy development team to develop a comprehensive and tailored disciple-making strategy designed to inform and \r\nequip every ministry context within Promise Land to make disciples. In phase  three, once finalized, I presented the strategy to the deacons, lay leadership, and congregation, outlining its biblical foundations and seeking their affirmation. In the first phase of this project, I explored existing discipleship methods to determine best practices and conducted a church survey to reveal the spiritual health of FBC. A demographic study revealed the spiritual health of Neshoba County. Third, with the deacon’s approval, I selected a strategy team from the FBC membership and included the ministerial staff. The team and I used the summary of best practices, results from the spiritual survey of FBC, and the demographic study of Neshoba County to develop a strategy. The strategy team evaluated the accumulated methods of making disciples and created a discipleship strategy for FBC. Finally, the strategy team helped establish a course of action for presenting the discipleship strategy to the deacon body and congregation. I presented the strategy and implementation plan to the deacon body for feedback and approval. The deacons unanimously approved the discipleship strategy. I am in the process of preaching through the discipleship strategy in Sunday morning worship, and some of the members of  the strategy team have established pilot D-Groups. From this, along with other  church members, five pilot D-Groups have been meeting this fall. To accomplish this purpose, I, the project director, conducted research in the fields of discipleship and curriculum development. From this research, I identified essential skills of a disciple-maker: character of Christ, disciplines of Christ, communion with Christ, and humility of Christ. Once these skills were identified, I developed a five-session curriculum and implemented this curriculum in a two-day weekend workshop. In the weekend workshop the project director utilized different teaching techniques to engage participants; cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains of learning. The attendants \r\nparticipated in various evaluations specific to each of the three domains of  learning. I used various assessments to evaluate the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains of the participants. To succeed in this purpose, I researched the field of discipleship to gain a foundational understanding of biblical discipleship. I examined demographic trends concerning current and upcoming generations of college-aged adults and distilled four competencies to effectively disciple college-aged believers. The competencies were framed within and expounded upon through the lens of First Baptist Church of Tuscaloosa, Alabama’s mission statement. Subsequently, I developed and implemented a four-week curriculum to equip selected adults to disciple college-aged adults. I employed evaluative measures to assess participants’ progress in the identified discipleship competencies.
