Churches are called to be interdependent, self-propagating, outward-focused communities of Kingdom people comprised at their core of reaidcl disciples covenanted to the Triune God and to each other, who are missional, incarnational and transformational to the surrounding culture. The researcher collected quantitative and qualitative data from the participants' responses to identical pretest and posttest self-assessment surveys. A select group of individuals were surveyed using a Likert Scale to determine their understanding of the Great Commission.  Preaching centered on the Great Commission.  Studies focused on living in obedience, the evangelism of Jesus, and on the Great Commission.  The outcome was that many individuals indicated an increased interest in sharing their faith. Yet the majority involved rejected the use of evangelism tools or participation in servant evangelism opportunities.  The best results came from a small group led by the author.  The major conclusion was that one can have a good knowledge of the Great Commission and claim an interest in sharing his/her faith. The research became a case study which assumed an organic nature reflective of both disciple-making and the urban setting. The description and analysis of this complex interaction are presented both on a conceptual and practical level. The conceptual level is presented in the review of literature and biblical theology. The author believes that the term 'revival' has been misunderstood in view of the biblical meaning and needs to be redefined for the modern church. We can be renewed by focusing on the fact that God has sent us a Savior and being Christ's body here on earth. Churches can turn this concept into an action plan for their congregation by instituting a program that honors Christ's methods of discipling and the activities of the historical revivalists, appealing to the whole person: head, heart, and hands. John Wesley's class meeting system was successful because it focused on these elements. The Navigators are a modern-day example. After interviewing ten Asian American churches in the northeastern United States in regards to their discipleship processes, and reviewing selected literature on discipleship, a process was developed. Churches in the United States often struggle to effectively equip believers with a strong foundation in the Word of God and to multiply by making disciples. The lack of relationships within the church body that encourage and guide spiritual formation, and discipleship that does not integrate transparent relationships, mutual accountability, and biblical truth, are part of the cause.
