Calvary Baptist Church, Cochran, Georgia, in marital communication skills.  Equipping married couples in developing healthy communication skills through the use of cognitive, affective and psychomotor activities was the overarching goal of this project.  The communicative growth made by each couple was manifested through the successful results revealed by their own admission as well as external evaluation.  The project methodology showed that marital communication skills can be affected positively through practical teaching, personal examination, and purposeful training. Findings from this study did not show that emotional expressiveness played an important role in marital satisfaction among the overseas Chinese subjects.  However, feelings of ambivalence over emotional expressiveness strongly predicted marital distress for the Chinese female subjects. Of the seventy-two evangelical and non-evangelical clergy couples who completed the Dyadic Adjustment Scale (DAS) and the Index of Marital Satisfaction (IMS) self-tests, the main issues of concern identified were: financial, religious, and affectional. With minimal seminar and follow-up participation, after these self-tests, the Transtheoretical model developed by Prochaska and Norcross (2003) was incorporated. Two tests were administered to the seminar group. The Intrinsic/Extrinsic scale designed by Gordon Allport was given to measure religious orientation.  A test designed by Howard Garfinkel was administered to measure the increase in differentiation of self from one's family of origin. An eight-week training seminar, which focused on the development of certain healthy family traits, assisted the families in accomplishing this task.  These training sessions offered times for mutual support and dialogue among the families. The results of the project revealed that only slight growth was realized. It concentrated on the way situations of conflict are handled within those relationships.  A context was created in which four family groups could examine their relationship and analyze their interactions and the effect their behavior had on family life. The expectation was that there would be a greater change in the MMPI scores of the treatment group than the control group.  After the marathon, the twelve reported feelings of spontaneity, liberation, increased self-esteem, and more direct and honest communication.  The time orientation of the twelve shifted systematically from past to future perspective with increased time in the
