Conciliar identity is to be developed in the local setting of the church. The author researched the historical formation of the United Church of Christ and the historical development of the ecumenical movement in order to assess the relationship between the two, to demonstrate the convergences evident in their unfolding histories, and to gather sources said to be intrinsic to the development of conciliar identity at the local level. Both the historical traditions of the United Church of Christ and the ecumenical movement provided resources for the development of an educational program intended to initiate the process of conciliar identity formation. The program was taught over a period of eight weeks, with nine participants and contributing presentations made by representatives of confessions other than those associated with the United Church of Christ. In conclusion, the author determined the necessity for the course to be extended. While participants could define the essential characteristics of conciliar identity with limited effectiveness, there was evident promise of further enrichment of that identity, together with associated practices."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Pittsburgh Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31bd5819-b5a3-4928-96d5-b581f38b637b"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791126737075044352,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:32:46.577Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:20:43Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:31:02Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"dfb5af25-f65d-407b-838c-271b9d6a0113","accessControl_ssim":["3f0b4eb6-a3fd-4287-a1a0-1630e615c13d"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Ecumenical formation in denominational theological seminaries"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:20:36Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:32:18Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["4345c721-edd1-4454-84aa-cf80af3b8890"],"hasLease_ssim":["6cebc7b9-8fab-40ba-8621-2594e70bf517"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["John T Ford"],"year_tesim":["2004"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. The project concludes by describing three grassroots ecumenical programs in Korea to explore possible principles and strategies for ecumenical cooperation among the regional churches."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["San Francisco Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["38714359-d032-4ed0-ae3f-cb82c8f65a92"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799716582405963776,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:04:41.450Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T01:47:53Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T01:34:23Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"8ec68e7f-ecaf-4426-a074-873bed4fb09d","accessControl_ssim":["35f3f890-46c3-44df-b324-b679bd77dd8d"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Ecumenicity's impact within local congregations: a study of five congregations in Western Perry County, Pennsylvania"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T01:47:53Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:18:50Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["19d8c833-fdcf-4b52-a0d8-e70202b15e59"],"hasLease_ssim":["59d296cd-1560-4d9a-9318-d42add5ced69"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia"],"advisor_tesim":["John Henry Reumann"],"year_tesim":["1991"],"location_tesim":["Pennsylvania--Perry County"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Jeffrey L Roth"],"keyword_tesim":["Religious surveys"],"publisher_tesim":["Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia"],"subject_tesim":["Congregations","Ecumenical movement"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The purpose of the study was to evaluate the degree to which ecumenism has impacted local congregations. A survey tool was used to measure the attitudes of persons in five different congregations in western Perry County, Pennsylvania. The congregations which were studied were United Church of Christ (2), United Methodist, Presbyterian, and Lutheran. The study also evaluated the data by age and gender indicators. The overall study indicated a significant ecumenical openness in worship, fellowship, witness, and mission. Areas showing limitations in openness included the use of the ecumenical creeds, relations with the Roman Catholic Church, evangelism, social justice issues, devotional practices, feelings of loneliness (61 and older) and not feeling needed (confirmation age to 25)."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799714677516664832,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T01:34:24.807Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T23:13:42Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:54:27Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"f7145505-e84c-4fc7-959c-5fc32edd0f79","accessControl_ssim":["197aa5f3-29b7-4fef-b987-086692618f27"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Ecumenism at the middle judicatory level: a model for mission"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T23:13:41Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T05:11:42Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["950db73e-5571-4dcc-a3f7-e2555e52138b"],"hasLease_ssim":["5521bc12-ee9c-4a8d-a889-3a5e597dc924"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["San Francisco Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["John S Hadsell"],"year_tesim":["1986"],"location_tesim":["Utah"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Robert H Rigstad"],"publisher_tesim":["San Francisco Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Consultation on Church Union","Church history","Ecumenical movement"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The author traces the development of the Consultation on Church Union (COCU) and critiques its latest theological consensus. Its purpose is to begin a denomination-wide discussion on ecumenism in the KEC through the design and implementation of an educational proposal on the ecumenical movement. This project contributes to the establishment of a firm theological foundation for KEC ecumenical participation. It provides a theological critique of some of the anti-ecumenical arguments among the KEC and Korean churches and analyzes the reasons why the KEC withdrew from the KNCC in 1961. It provides insights for rethinking ecumenism so that the KEC can become involved in the ecumenical movements in Korea and in the world."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["San Francisco Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["38714359-d032-4ed0-ae3f-cb82c8f65a92"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799715504276897792,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T01:47:33.267Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"D.Min.
