The EA Doctrinal Basis focuses on Protestant non-negotiable's and avoids both the minimalism of the ancient creeds and the maximalism of puritan confessions. This statement can be used to define interdenominational unity between the Presbyterian, Baptist, and Methodist traditions, among others. Nevertheless, Christian congregations and their ministers can, through courage and faith, overcome ungodly rationalizations for ungodly sexual beliefs and actions by setting out the godly tenets of sexual righteousness and supporting them with valid Biblical argument. Chapter one introduces the thesis while providing a methodology for implementation and application of Biblical truth related to sexual identity and practice. Chapter two chronicles the decline of sexual morality in western societies and identities the pattern of thought driving cultural change. Chapter three speaks to the evangelical missteps in addressing the sexual revolution and points toward a comprehensive plan of correction. Chapter four seeks to establish a systematic theology of sexual identity and practice while chapter five speaks to guidelines for preaching sensitive material within a congregational setting. The researcher approached this project from a postmodern theoretical perspective. Using grounded-theory and phenomenological methodology, the researcher surveyed parents and pastors through an online survey and follow-up interviews. Informed by the findings, the researcher developed a cooperative catechesis model that went beyond traditional catechesis approaches. The first step of the project consisted of researching church and community demographics. During this step, the project director explored existing discipleship strategies of Christian churches and secular organizations. In the second step, the director led a discipleship strategy team to develop an adult discipleship strategy. In the third step of the project, the director presented the developed adult discipleship strategy to Oakville Baptist Church for approval. Oakville Baptist Church unanimously approved the adult discipleship strategy. The workship schedule consisted of nine sessions held on Thursdays with approval by the Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC) and the administration of MSP. The selected group consisted of thirteen IRAs, and each session lasted approximately two hours. The project director addressed the following pastoral issues: pastoral ministry skills, comfort and caring skills, anger management skills (two sessions), counseling skills, interpersonal relationship skills, listening skills, and suicide prevention skills before closing the workship with a final summary session. The project goals were to research the field of pastoral ministry skills, to develop teaching sessions to equip selected IRAs in pastoral minisrty skills, and to equip selected inmate religious assistants (IRAs) in pastoral ministry skills. Interviews were recorded, transcribed, and analyzed in order to understand the intrinsic and relational variables contributing to their service duration. Themes identified were (1) faith and belief as a framework, (2) personal and relational growth, and (3) growth mindset. A conceptual model of mindset appeared that served commitment and intent. This model is discussed, along with integration and other research models.
