The paper includes a theology for the family, an exploration of the church's role in spiritual formation, and the literature review. Once tutoring had taken place, the project director developed a workshop consisting of six ninety-minute sessions.  The project director led these sessions for the selected group of First Baptist Church, Pontotoc, for the purpose of equipping them to implement the seeker-sensitive service. Classes clarified understanding and deepened the participants' appreciation of sacred tradition while guiding them in discernment of the Church's call and purpose. The project sought to answer the question whether intentional instruction from scripture over a nine-week period would increase per capita spending toward the local church with corresponding changes in attitudes toward giving. The method of instruction was to administer a pre-course evaluation followed by nine weeks of instruction, followed by a post-course evaluation. Together, the quantitative and qualitative aspects of this study revealed that Concordia is a strong academic institution that effectively imparts theological knowledge that is foundational for pastoral ministry, and that it successfully teaches its students to think theologically. Shiloh is an old, traditional, southern black Baptist institution whose historical prominence emerged because of her dynamic Christian education ministry, of which Sunday School had dwindled to nil.  Eager to revitalize the Christian education ministry and energize the persons of auxiliaries and ministry leaders, the pastor petitioned to boost a dying ministry.  An initiative involving all church leaders was launched to address the Christian education needs of Shiloh.  The timeline for this project was originally six weeks, but developed into an additional seven weeks to more effectively meet the objectives of the project.  Phase I of the project focused on assessing the Christian education ministry, defining roles and leadership training. Phase II specifically concentrated on Sunday School teacher training centered on biblical background knowledge, Christian doctrine, teaching methods and addressed a variety of learning styles.
