It examines the history of African American clergy leadership education and African American theological reflection that informs such educational programs. Qualitative data gathered from interviews of persons who have participated in African American clergy leadership education programs serve as a measure of program effectiveness by offering crucial information to African American clergy who serve both church and community. After research and creation, the course of study was taught over the course of one academic year. It was then evaluated for its evangelical orientation and relevance by a panel of educators and students. This project tested whether the curriculum developed could meet the OME's requirements for a course of study, be endorsed by an expert panel of Christian educators from Ontario and be found to be engaging and beneficial to a cross-section of high school students. Based on the analysis of data through mixed methods (qualitative and quantitative research), the researcher proposed modifying and updating the traditional Japanese seminary curriculum for pastoral ministry. A modified curriculum requires first that seminaries nurture leaders who can lead their churches toward the eschatological vision in Revelation 7:9 as the goal of ministry. The content focus of the curriculum was on core longings (the blessings of God) and emotional healing. At the conclusion of the nine week curriculum, the participants completed a post assessment questionnaire to measure their increased understanding and awareness of core longings. Participants completed a quantitative pre-test and quantitative post-test, including qualitative questions. The results of the study indicated that the Healing Care Groups Curriculum had a positive impact on the spiritual renewal of the participants.
