Drawing on research in communication theory, levels of learning, and convergence worship theory, the project designs and tests a nine-lesson study guide for persons serving congregations consisting of worshipers from diverse backgrounds. Project surveys indicate that students perceive poverty, are bothered by the sight of it, know that God loves the poor, and yet they are not personally involved with the poor.
