A brief history of these churches and a description of their doctrine, worship, and mission outreach is given.  Church administration is a valid course for students preparing to serve churches in the New Testament Church movement. Its purpose is to give the 'person in the pew' an understanding of the movement.  It consists of eleven lessons taught by the author in an experimental class in the church he serves as a minister. Training materials were prepared, tested in class situations, and critiqued by people with expertise in the areas stated in the thesis.  The study has shown that acceptability by the targeted audience and adequate educational quality are key factors for successful publication of materials. Research included interviews with consultants, an analysis of courses from other seminaries, and a questionnaire submitted to pastors, leaders of local church missionary fellowships, and missionaries.  The curriculum contains objectives, a syllabus, and thirty lesson outlines which make extensive use of adult education techniques.  Two pastors, two missions professors, and two mission executives evaluated the curriculum. A biblical and theological-ethical foundation lends support to a style of 'friendship' administration developed for this project.  The program development committee authored software which was used in two Sunday school classes successfully. A twelve week curriculum utilizes parables, personalities, and the Passion Week from the Gospel of Luke.  Youth to senior citizens involve themselves in a variety of learning activities.  A training manual exists in the project for those who want to develop a curriculum and lead intergenerational sessions.  The project includes a critique of intergenerational education from theological and educational perspectives. Findings conclude that this education is a valid approach for the church. The basis is the institutional needs of the air force and the research-identified needs and interests of chaplains.  These needs are correlated with the applicable principles of holistic growth.  The combined implications become the ingredients of the program. The resulting five-year design was evaluated by fifty-eight chaplains.  They concluded the program was effectively responsive to their needs and interests. The project became a reality in 1981.  It was designed to fulfill two goals: 1. to articulate my theological understanding of the relationship between the church's educational ministry and its pastoral ministry of faith development; 2. to develop a three year program of adult education rooted in that theological understanding. The method of study included: classes, readings, Christian education committee work and the parish life and ministry development process. The thesis of this paper is the importance of Christian education in the church, most specifically the black Baptist church.  The method of doing this study is through personal interviews of directors, teachers, pastors and students who are affiliated with the center using the above listed curriculum.
