Through a teaching curriculum called 'Theology for Dummies,' a group of members from First Baptist Church learned simple steps for applying the Word of God to their everyday lives.  Chapter one of the report describes the ministry setting of the First Baptist Church and defines the need for and goals of the project.  Chapter two is a biblical survey of the relationship between beliefs and behaviors.  Through examining several Old and New Testament passages the author concludes that God has given mankind His Word with the intention that it change human behavior.  Chapter three is an examination of some social theories of learning. Chapter four describes the 'Theology for Dummies' curriculum. The curriculum, written and taught by the pastor/researcher in Spanish, followed some of John Wesley's practices. The curriculum was tested with a small group of church leaders, many of whom had never received any formalized instruction in the spiritual disciplines and the Wesleyan theological tradition. The sessions included reading on spirituality and its development in the Wesleyan tradition, small group discussions, and the practice of spiritual disciplines between sessions. It demonstrated a need for training and increased quality of performance in Christian education in Latin America.  Responding to an apparent lack of training, it evaluated and determined curriculum needs for a Master of Arts in Christian Education (MA/CE) degree at CATS.  Needs assessment instruments were used to determine key needs.  These evaluated current practice and identified ways to improve performance effectiveness.  Curriculum for a MA/CE has been recommended to CATS to meet Latin America's need for higher training in this The Introduction to Discipleship was offered during the first semester and focused on biblical foundations, theory and practice, and participation in a discipling relationship.  During the second semester students were invited into a discipling relationship with the instructor.  Students were surveyed at the beginning of the year regarding their assurance of salvation, commitment to ministry, knowledge, commitment, and overall confidence to discipleship in ministry.
