Various issues involved in the topic of immigration are considered in order to provide the reader with a substantive amount of needed variables, which contribute to the formation of the complexity that is characteristic of this theme, with the goal of taking a better informed position. Using Dr. Eldin Villafañe's 'Hermeneutical Circle,' this document starts with a clarification of the problem, mining information from observations, experience and written materials. In addition to serving their spiritual needs, the churches find themselves dealing with a wide array of social, economic and educational factors, faced by their parishioners. This project focuses on the role of education as a tool for addressing the social and spiritual needs of these first-generation immigrants. This project assessed their academic, social, and spiritual formation necessary to maintain their cultural identity as they adapt to the American culture to discover how to help improve their self-esteem, to teach healthy relationships, and teach freedom from the need to oppress, control, or to feel superior to others. The data collected and analyzed discovered that these young Liberians surveyed had good attitudes toward their race and national identity as Liberians.  They feel loved by God and believed they are good persons. Bosch's reading of the Gospel of Matthew, in dialogue with the Committee on Evangelism and Church Development of the Presbytery of Tampa Bay, in the hope to visualize from a theological perspective the contribution that immigrant groups can bring to the mainline traditions.
