The downside of this newfound affluence and status-consciousness is that a key component of why we gather together to worship has been lost.  For blacks worship is a corporate act of pastoral care.  Because of the subjugation and disenfranchisement of the race black Americans still need to 'shout' in church.  There is peril in restricting the natural emotive range of expression in the worship setting.
