The purpose of this study is to show that a consistent and systematic way to approach bioethical dilemmas has evolved in the last quarter century.  The study approaches the discussion of limiting medical treatment from medical, legal, and theological perspectives. Specifically, bioethical dilemmas involving persons with developmental disabilities residing in a state residential facility in California are explored.  The project portion of the study includes a handbook for use with families in considering options regarding limiting medical treatment.  A pastoral section considers ways in which clergy may be more helpful in their pastoral care with the dying and their families."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["San Francisco Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["38714359-d032-4ed0-ae3f-cb82c8f65a92"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799719351916429312,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:48:42.662Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T00:19:56Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:12:18Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"0eb6634d-971b-4e65-af55-14027ed26b6e","accessControl_ssim":["31aa46ed-d846-4b42-9c65-21aaf89330d8"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The challenge of euthanasia: an annotated bibliography on euthanasia and related subjects"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T00:19:55Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:32:14Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["316bd5ad-56af-4a7f-b59d-d45c82b31216"],"hasLease_ssim":["47507dd2-f189-4a79-9a9a-db76e11d9919"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Trinity Evangelical Divinity School"],"advisor_tesim":["Timothy M Warner"],"year_tesim":["1988"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Don V Bailey"],"publisher_tesim":["Trinity Evangelical Divinity School of Trinity International University"],"subject_tesim":["Bibliographies","Euthanasia","Interdisciplinary studies","Bibliography"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The project presupposed a deficiency in bibliographic aids on the subject of euthanasia and related subjects, which was proved to be true as a result of this project. Research among health care institutions, health care and legal professionals, libraries, and public media revealed that virtually no annotated bibliographies had been compiled, except for three which treated the subject specifically.  One did so exstensively, but was only current through 1974.  The project presents the challenge of euthanasia as it is reflected in the literature of proponents and opponents alike, with a descriptive annotation of each writer's view. It lists approximately nine hundred fifty outstanding up-to-date works relative to homicide: feticide, genocide, infanticide, and suicide; religion: Christianity and Judaism; sociologically oriented fields: economical, ethical, familial, individual, legal, medical, moral, philosophical, psychological, and social; technological: drugs, genetics, machines, and transplants. Author and title indexes provide for quick research.  Each is indexed according to citation number."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Trinity Evangelical Divinity School"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["c654e922-76d0-4427-ac29-e286b7997781"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799717063104659456,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:12:19.881Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":3,"label":"Unknown"}],"label":"Resource Type"},{"name":"creator_sim","items":[{"value":"Don V Bailey","hits":1,"label":"Don V Bailey"},{"value":"J Charles Parker","hits":1,"label":"J Charles Parker"},{"value":"Joseph E Beltran","hits":1,"label":"Joseph E Beltran"}],"label":"Creator Sim"},{"name":"contributor_sim","items":[],"label":"Contributor"},{"name":"keyword_sim","items":[],"label":"Keyword"},{"name":"subject_sim","items":[{"value":"Euthanasia","hits":3,"label":"Euthanasia"},{"value":"Bibliographies","hits":1,"label":"Bibliographies"},{"value":"Bibliography","hits":1,"label":"Bibliography"},{"value":"Bioethics","hits":1,"label":"Bioethics"},{"value":"Church work with the sick","hits":1,"label":"Church work with the sick"},{"value":"Interdisciplinary studies","hits":1,"label":"Interdisciplinary studies"}],"label":"Subject"},{"name":"location_sim","items":[],"label":"Location"},{"name":"language_sim","items":[{"value":"English","hits":3,"label":"English"}],"label":"Language"},{"name":"publisher_sim","items":[{"value":"Trinity Evangelical Divinity School of Trinity International University","hits":2,"label":"Trinity Evangelical Divinity School of Trinity International University"},{"value":"San Francisco Theological Seminary","hits":1,"label":"San Francisco Theological Seminary"}],"label":"Publisher"},{"name":"date_created_sim","items":[],"label":"Date Created"},{"name":"types_sim","items":[{"value":"Text","hits":3,"label":"Text"}],"label":"Type"},{"name":"year_sim","items":[{"value":"1988","hits":1,"label":"1988"},{"value":"1991","hits":1,"label":"1991"},{"value":"1992","hits":1,"label":"1992"}],"label":"Year"},{"name":"format_sim","items":[],"label":"Format"},{"name":"member_of_collections_ssim","items":[{"value":"Trinity Evangelical Divinity School","hits":2,"label":"Trinity Evangelical Divinity School"},{"value":"San Francisco Theological Seminary","hits":1,"label":"San Francisco Theological Seminary"}],"label":"Collections"},{"name":"degree_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":3,"label":"Unknown"}],"label":"Degree"},{"name":"discipline_sim","items":[],"label":"Discipline"},{"name":"degree_granting_institution_sim","items":[{"value":"Trinity Evangelical Divinity School","hits":2,"label":"Trinity Evangelical Divinity School"},{"value":"San Francisco Theological Seminary","hits":1,"label":"San Francisco Theological Seminary"}],"label":"Degree Granting Institution"},{"name":"department_sim","items":[],"label":"Department"},{"name":"funder_name_sim","items":[],"label":"Funder Name"},{"name":"event_title_sim","items":[],"label":"Event Title"},{"name":"event_date_sim","items":[],"label":"Event Date"},{"name":"institution_sim","items":[{"value":"Atla RIM","hits":3,"label":"Atla RIM"}],"label":"Host Institution"}],"pages":{"current_page":1,"next_page":null,"prev_page":null,"total_pages":1,"limit_value":10,"offset_value":0,"total_count":3,"first_page?":true,"last_page?":true}}}
