The sample population consisted of twenty churches of different denominations that consistently reach non-Christians through their worship services.  A researcher-designed questionnaire and semi-structured interview were used as instruments. Reluctant native leaders need to become elders, and churches should hire native pastors part-time. Observing the larger context helps a preacher avoid atomistic misinterpretations. This project examines how the church should treat divorced persons.  Using current literature and especially from the Bible and church history, the project conducts interviews with selected persons and compares regulations on marriage and divorce among various denominations, in order to formulate a new theology of marriage and divorce for KEHC and other denominations for the 1990s.
