I aimed to address the specific obstacles that keep many members from engaging in personal evangelism conversations and to encourage and prepare them to obey this God-given task. I gathered and analyzed internal data, which clearly showed a lack of evangelistic engagement within the church.\r\n\r\nI carried out the project in three phases: research, curriculum development, and equipping courses. During the research phase, I studied the Scriptures along with trusted extra-biblical sources, analyzed both external and internal data, and used pre- and postcourse surveys to assess the selected participants. In the curriculum development phase, I synthesized the information I gathered to create lessons that balanced sound doctrine with practical application. I then taught the equipping courses over eight sessions, using a Sunday evening discipleship class format."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-default-approving","admin_set/default-default-depositing","admin_set/default-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Default Admin Set"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["kstamant@nobts.edu"],"_version_":1855666810207076352,"timestamp":"2026-01-29T15:49:36.702Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2026-01-15T22:41:32Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2026-01-15T22:41:38Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"ba1923ac-67a6-4cd7-9807-dc9f5c0cebda","accessControl_ssim":["7674a2c2-4f4a-440d-b300-0cea5f5bb263"],"hasRelatedMediaFragment_ssim":["53c67891-28b0-4cc7-90c6-569a51b7443c"],"hasRelatedImage_ssim":["53c67891-28b0-4cc7-90c6-569a51b7443c"],"depositor_ssim":["rmendez@student.ctu.edu"],"depositor_tesim":["rmendez@student.ctu.edu"],"title_tesim":["To be known is to be loved: A call to journey alongside Latino/a communities for effective pastoral leadership"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2026-01-15T22:41:31Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2026-01-15T22:41:31Z","isPartOf_ssim":["admin_set/default"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["f8ff6cb9-f506-4259-b037-695cc4a75be3"],"hasLease_ssim":["4f0eb379-d321-4485-a3f3-91e2861e82a9"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Catholic Theological Union"],"year_tesim":["2025"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. To be known requires respect and understanding of their communities’ pastoral needs and religious practices. Sadly, many leaders have a colonial mentality that foments stereotypes and even prejudice toward Hispanics. The only way to move beyond this mentality is to sincerely enter into relationships with Latino(a)s, and understand how they see themselves. This respectful understanding must begin with our Church leaders. Latino/as want to share their cultural and religious practices that connect them to their families and ancestors. Although the Hispanic Catholics play a vital role in the life of the Church, barriers to inclusion remain. Hispanic Catholics want to fully participate in the Church’s mission to serve the whole community. They are eager to share their gifts through collaborative service in their parishes.\r\n\r\nIn this thesis project I reveal Hispanic communities that are already present but not often seen. I introduce their religious practices to the larger community including church leaders. I focus on the religious practice called Adoración Nocturna Mexicana (Mexican Nocturnal Adoration). A practice where members of the Mexican Catholic communities spend the night in adoration before the Blessed Sacrament of the Altar where, like all Catholics, they worship the true presence of Jesus Christ in the consecrated hosts reposited in the Tabernacle and exposed in the monstrance on the altar during nocturnal adoration vigil. The study shows how Hispanics have historically and are presently practicing nocturnal adoration as part of their popular religious practices. More importantly, I explore what drives them toward these religious practices. By listening to their stories, I have heard their heartfelt voices as they express their needs and desires, spiritually, socially, and emotionally. I also demonstrate how they emulate the Samaritan woman at the well (John: 4-42), and like her are moved to evangelization when they also come to the realization of being known and therefore loved by Christ. \r\n\r\nI delve into the pastoral, social, and theological dimensions of Hispanic popular Catholicism and devotional practices, referred to as Santo praxis and lo cotidiano (the everyday). \r\n\r\nThe goal is to demonstrate how popular religious devotion is forged in the historical struggles of people who are oppressed. I describe in detail the rituals promoted by Adoración Nocturna Mexicana. \r\n\r\nAnd finally, share a theological reflection of the study’s findings and a pastoral response related to the importance of intercultural competence for effective leadership and accompaniment of Hispanic communities.\r\n"],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/downloads/53c67891-28b0-4cc7-90c6-569a51b7443c?file=thumbnail","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-default-approving","admin_set/default-default-depositing","admin_set/default-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_ids_ssim":["53c67891-28b0-4cc7-90c6-569a51b7443c"],"file_set_ids_ssim":["53c67891-28b0-4cc7-90c6-569a51b7443c"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Default Admin Set"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["rmendez@student.ctu.edu"],"_version_":1854424409589153792,"timestamp":"2026-01-15T22:42:11.142Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2025-12-18T15:26:23Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2025-12-18T18:44:10Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"9e465362-95ad-466e-969f-92b5c10de8a4","accessControl_ssim":["4c72bbd7-82b8-44b6-a90c-911b5fd23dbe"],"depositor_ssim":["martins02@moravian.edu"],"depositor_tesim":["martins02@moravian.edu"],"title_tesim":["The Moravian way of evangelism: a study, discussion, and action guide for congregations"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2025-12-18T15:26:23Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2025-12-18T18:44:10Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["806092bd-cea6-4981-81eb-1f7ff5b05b27"],"hasLease_ssim":["03d7d088-ab88-4224-9477-93fd8a368549"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"additional_rights_info_tesim":["Earl R Shay"],"degree_tesim":["DMin"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Lancaster Theological Seminary"],"year_tesim":["1990"],"video_embed_tesim":[""],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. The object of this pastoral essay is to make policy recommendations about evangelism based upon this writer’s interpretation of the Pauline conception of reconciliation as a major biblical theme that has significant implications for evangelism. To this end, the paradigm chosen for developing this study moves from the historical to the contemporary theological; from inductive analysis to generalization; from viewing the Pauline letters as circumstantial writings addressed to particular situations to generalizing findings beyond those circumstances; from description (this writer’s understanding of what Paul meant) to prescription (what it can mean for us today)."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com","martins02@moravian.edu"],"_version_":1851860273188569088,"timestamp":"2025-12-18T15:26:20.113Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2025-06-12T19:24:53Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2025-06-12T19:24:54Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"0cf829ad-9bf7-4e17-9ae1-3c2c5f963530","accessControl_ssim":["896cd120-bbd2-4a73-9837-000107a203dd"],"depositor_ssim":["kstamant@nobts.edu"],"depositor_tesim":["kstamant@nobts.edu"],"title_tesim":["Equipping Selected Members of Grace Avenue Bible Church, Sacramento, California, with Personal Evangelism Skills"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2025-06-12T19:24:52Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2025-06-12T19:24:52Z","isPartOf_ssim":["admin_set/default"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["af6038fb-2527-45cc-bc91-d06b9e2a3c05"],"hasLease_ssim":["349c5256-f943-4fbb-9dba-844da2de0610"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["DMin"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Dr. Jake Roudkovski"],"year_tesim":["2025"],"location_tesim":["California"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. Evangelism is not only a practice of the church, but the process by which the Holy Spirit offers an invitation into the loving reign of God as proclaimed by the pilgrim-priests of the gathered church of Christ."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC-NC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/downloads/8c1f585e-6687-4b41-ad4b-da6330fb880f?file=thumbnail","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-default-approving","admin_set/default-default-depositing","admin_set/default-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_ids_ssim":["8c1f585e-6687-4b41-ad4b-da6330fb880f"],"file_set_ids_ssim":["8c1f585e-6687-4b41-ad4b-da6330fb880f"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Default Admin Set"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["mgalica@pts.edu"],"_version_":1829022825052110848,"timestamp":"2025-04-10T13:34:52.372Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2025-01-16T16:24:29Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2025-01-16T16:24:31Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"698c2876-e098-4106-9ea8-f477c4d6e3ce","accessControl_ssim":["5b96f2c8-8362-41f8-81f2-76962f684c06"],"depositor_ssim":["kstamant@nobts.edu"],"depositor_tesim":["kstamant@nobts.edu"],"title_tesim":["Equipping Selected Members of First Baptist Church, Andrews, Texas with Personal Evangelism Skills"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2025-01-16T16:24:29Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2025-01-16T16:24:29Z","isPartOf_ssim":["admin_set/default"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["9b81e0d6-6b3b-47b1-a48d-0617f853b3d8"],"hasLease_ssim":["2bc95869-ba62-49cc-a3ec-a89ffb28e686"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["DMin"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Dr. Jake Roudkovski"],"year_tesim":["2024"],"location_tesim":["Texas"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. The study utilized a qualitative design using semi-structured interviews with six native Hungarian Millennials who recently had converted to Christianity and had no previous Christian background. The assumption of this study was that new converts to Christianity have been motivated in different ways in their conversion process and learned important principles about what makes a Hungarian Millennial interested in exploring Christianity.\r\n\r\nThe literature review focused on three areas to help to understand this issue: human capacity of desire, longing, and love; the human desire and longing in the Bible; and the culture of Millennials in Hungary.\r\n\r\nThis study concluded that Hungarian Millennials’ approach to Christianity is influenced by the post-communist heritage which ridicules religiosity, has materialistic worldview, and creates a unique post-communist individualism. Challenges for the Hungarian church in trying to reach Millennials with the gospel include Millennial prejudices, Buddhist romanticism, and a “God yes, church no” attitude. The Millennials can be engaged by a gospel response to their needs stemming from egocentrism and meaninglessness, hollow values, disruption and lack of emotional self-regulation, and happiness-seeking.\r\n\r\nTo address these Millennial needs, this study identified seven major implications for outreach: connect to people’s desires, engage Millennials’ unique needs pre-evangelistically, communicate meaningfully within their culture, ask good questions concerning their needs and listen well, present a bigger gospel than individual salvation with stories, respond to their assumptions about the church, and teaching about suffering in light of the hope of the God’s redemptive story.\r\n"],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"related_url_tesim":["https://www.covenantlibrary.org/etd/2023/Mikola_Borbala_DMin_2023.pdf"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-default-approving","admin_set/default-default-depositing","admin_set/default-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Default Admin Set"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["library@covenantseminary.edu"],"_version_":1816908307964624896,"timestamp":"2024-11-27T20:19:48.571Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":669,"label":"Unknown"},{"value":"D.Min.
