It focused upon a core group to develop a strategy for reaching people from varied ethnicities, cultures, sub-cultures, generations, and socio-economic classes.  The group, which was comprised of Christians from sixteen distinct cultures, sought to identify as many people groups as could be found, and to locate their places of activity.  They wrote a mission statement and established core values with multiple strategies. The model that is identified is described as a 'hospitable, eschatological welcome.' The five pericopes studied contain both examples and teaching from the earthly ministry of Jesus, demonstrating the alignment that existed between his words and actions on this subject. In particular, the pericopes center around Jesus' controversial ministry to the sinners and tax collectors, the criticism he received from the Pharisees, and his commission to the disciples. In addition, table fellowship, as an element of the oriental hospitality, is explored as the cultural context for that which was occurring in the key passages of study. The history of God's salvation plan is the theological backdrop, beginning with God's heart for the stranger in the Old Testament and ending with a look at the cross as the most powerful example of the hospitality of God toward man. Trinity Baptist Church is located in a city that is seeing phenomenal growth and change, from being a small farming community to the second largest municipality in Orange County, Florida.  Many of the people moving to our community are members of the Bridger Generation, which is the second largest generation in American history.  This generation is very different from previous generations.  The challenge for the church is to develop a strategy to evangelize the young adults.  This project researched strategic methods used to evangelize young adults.  Upon completion of the research, the project director led a select group of young adults to create a strategy to evangelize young adults in Apopka, Florida. It is the author's belief that the key to the revitalization of the church, spiritual and numerical, is effective evangelism. Yet in most local churches evangelism is not taught or practiced, given little or no financial support, and in many cases discouraged by pastors and denominational hierarchy. Through this Doctor of Ministry project Pastor Tom Vencuss developed and implemented a program of evangelism designed to develop a greater understanding of, and desire to do, evangelism within a mainline congregation.
