After reading many books and materials in the fields of evangelism and pastoral care, the author established criteria that would give the program integrity, both theologically and practically.  He established the need through personal evaluation and a survey, and then developed the training program and relayed the dynamics of the training sessions. Instructional objectives are stated as learning outcomes and defined in terms of specific behaviors that students are expected to demonstrate.  The author attempts to identify various aspects of the evangelistic task from which specific component skills are extrapolated.  Measurements are accomplished by the use of performance observation and by a pre-test and post-test in the form of a semantic differential taken by participants and two control groups. The study concentrates on finding the basic needs of families by way of a community survey.  The findings of the survey resulted in the development of several possible responses a local church can make in meeting the needs of families. To reach out effectively it was discovered that people within the church needed to be equipped to do the work of ministry. The centers of value, images of power and master narratives of Harvard Business School students were gathered and analyzed.  The results were presented to a treatment group.  The control group had no data.  They engaged in faith discussions and adminstered semantic differential scales. The purpose of the project was to make the transition from pastor-led to lay-led AIG groups as an ongoing strategy for evangelism in the local church.  The goals of the project were achieved by the following: 1) prepared a paper on the theology of evangelism reflecting the author's interaction with others in the field; 2) formed three pilot lay-led groups; 3) trained six couples; 4) prepared necessary assessment instruments; and 5) kept journal describing feelings and reflections.
