Subsequent to my appointment to begin a new United Methodist church in Palm Beach county, Florida's fastest growing western edge, my discovery of this void prompted me to consider this as a research subject for my dissertation.  Therefore, the purpose of this study was to evaluate the ways a new United Methodist church planted in Palm Beach county, Florida, gathered people for its first service launch.  Of particular interest was determining whether or not the development of open-style (join at any time) small groups would enhance attendance at the first service launch.  The study primarily considered the quantitative components of crowd-gathering for the first service launch. A researcher designed questionnaire that doubled as an attendance registration form was used to gather the quantitative information needed for this study.  The study identified direct mail and kindness-evangelism as the strongest factors enhancing the first service launch attendance.  The findings also affirmed the importance of word of mouth communication to friends and family as integral in adding to the first service launch attendance. After Biblical, historical and cultural research, a plan was formulated to equip Pakistani Presbyterians to holistically train evangelists and missionaries from this inactive segment of the church through study, skills development (literacy/evangelism) and spiritual formation classes. Their party-indoctrinated worldview presented obstacles in comprehending the gospel. There is a need for a training model to equip the Christians to understand their mentality and be able to present the gospel to them. This project is a twelve session hands-on training seminar. It provided a support structure for the participants to pray for and engage in evangelism. It motivated the participants with the biblical mandate for cross-cultural evangelism. It equipped them with the necessary knowledge for communicating the gospel. Recently many evangelical churches and organizations following and practicing the Great Commission of the Lord have sent short-term mission teams to St. Paul and planted churches in this area. After reviewing the biblical challenge for evangelism, she then provides case studies of four growing churches in Kaohsiung.  Drawing on these four studies she then concludes that the church will need a new kind of worker to share the gospel with the new generation of people in the 21st Century. Chapter two of the research project explored and established a biblical and theological basis for personal evangelism. Chapter three presents an investigation of the mentoring process and its uses in three extra-biblical settings (e.g. the relationship of Socrates and Plato).  Research into mentoring relationships in the medical nursing and education professions provided examples for using mentoring relationships in a church's evangelism ministries.  Chapter four described the twelve week process of equipping a selected group of members of First Baptist Church to initiate a mentoring relationship with specific emphasis on personal evangelism. Chapter two lays the biblical and historical foundation that demonstrates God's communicating to mankind through various media. It argues that if God had chosen various ways to communicate in the past, He will use various ways today and tomorrow.  Chapter three researches the history and current state of the Internet.   Chapter four presents the evangelistic process called 'netfishing.'  It reveals the development of 'netfishing' and consists of personal and congregational 'netfishing' encounters.
