The author developed a training program to help participants overcome the determined barriers.  He produced an evangelistic tract using a theme associated with the name of the church and the story of the prodigal son.  He also conducted training sessions for instruction on daily utilization of the tract. The SIM concept indicates that faculty will carry out on-campus academic activities as well as off-campus field work with undergraduate theological students on a weekly basis.  The first part develops a theoretical framework to obtain criteria for the evaluation.  The second part contains the perceptions stated by respondents to a survey on the SIM concept.  Results indicated that the concept is widely accepted. One cause is a lack of proper focus on the doctrine of heaven.  Using before and after testing of a class taught using a nine-lesson curriculum based on a lay-oriented book on this doctrine, the study concludes that this book and curriculum were effective in positively influencing the understanding of and attitude toward heaven in the test group.  Such an improvement led to better motivation toward personal godliness and witness in almost all students. Thus after exploring the Apostle Paul's model of worldview analysis and confrontation as recorded in Acts 17:16-34, the thesis examines the New Age movement and the factors leading people to embrace this worldview.  Then, following Paul's approach in Acts 17:16-34, the thesis applies a similar model of worldview confrontation to the New Age movement. A handbook on apologetics was developed, after which it was then taught to two test groups totaling twenty-four participants.  Using a Likert-type scale, a pretest and posttest were administered to the participants to measure changes in attitude toward witnessing as a consequence of studying the handbook.  The results of the tests indicated that participants' attitude concerning their witnessing improved. In becoming a church for the unchurched, the church moves from separation to restoration, from incarceration to incarnation, from toleration to invitation, from isolation to identification, from alienation to participation, from assimilation to motivation, and from procrastination to transformation.  The biblical foundations, plans, and practices lead the church forward in the journey. Following this journey at the United Methodist Temple Church in Clarksburg, West Virginia, worship has grown by fifty per cent and of new members received over half are new Christians.  Eight new ministries have been formed.
