The distinctives of this project lie in its philosophy of membership and its emphasis on relating over educating. The project designed a curriculum of eight training sessions and five strategy-development sessions.  The entire church heard a series of eight sermons on the life and mission of the church.  The project studied an experimental group and two control groups, using a pretest and posttest to measure cognitive changes in the groups.  Statistical analysis of the tests reported a change in Control Group A and a significant change in the experimental group. New member assimilation can be best improved by developing a healthy system that new members may join. The research targeted a specific geographic area using several forms of mass marketing to promote the church within the targeted area, and then counted the number of persons who attended for the first time.
