Although the gospel of the kingdom contains the four dimensions of evangelism, discipleship, community, and social justice, most ministries have stressed the first two and neglected the latter two.  This study creates and teaches a four-dimensional model that is informed by Third World theological insights and the biblical theme of the kingdom.  A library survey provides the biblical, theological, and historical content of the model.  Chapter two focused on the kingdom in the modern missionary movement and the Nazareth passage (Luke 4:16-30).  The passage is used as evidence that the kingdom theme holds both spiritual and social interpretations in a kind of tension.  Chapter three studies Third World perspectives, including the challenges posed by liberation theology. Chapter four provides an overview and assessment of ministry to internationals in the USA.  It considers the four dimensions and their integration into the new model. This is true for West Germany where a small percentage of the population attends church regularly.  Lay persons can be important in reaching the unchurched because they are in contact with persons whom clergy may not reach.  This project explores the success of the congregational evangelistic campaign in meeting the needs of the secular mind.  The lay congregation prepares and implements the campaign which includes a public proclamation by laity.  The author analyzes this approach by means of twenty-two completed questionnaires and several personal interviews. He finds that 1) although there are weaknesses, pastors and churches generally are enthusiastic about this approach; 2) the open style and the focus on every-day problems are attractive to the secular mind; 3) an important factor is relationships which form among church members and visitors; 4) the approach activates the church; 5) it enhances the gifts of laymen. The author's inventory is administered to 141 persons in three Lutheran congregations. The author selected eight people from the church for training and sought to inculcate within them the need to do personal evangelism. The trainees were required to participate in three field practices: people search visits, street evangelism and home visits.  Eight persons also were recruited as members of a control group.  They filled out the same questionnaires taken by the trainees before and after training. Evangelism is discussed from the two perspectives of General Evangelism and In-House Evangelism.  General Evangelism concentrates on witnessing to persons who are not members of a particular Christian religious body and to persons who have not accepted Jesus Christ as the Lord and Saviour. In-House Evangelism focuses on involving persons of the local church in the total life of the church.  Evangelism in prisons and hospitals is also discussed.  The project emphasizes the personal preparation of the individual evangelist in terms of mental stability and spiritual strength.  The project is evaluated from the three perspectives of the participants, the class leaders in the church and the DMin candidate. It is based on a theology of covenant evangelism.  A central thesis of this work suggests that church membership is not simply a specific rite but is an ongoing covenantal relationship in a community of faith.
