Three biblical truths were drawn out: there are biblical principles in evangelistic work, that Christians should be strong and share the Gospel, and that God calls Christians to evangelistic work. The project director had three goals. First, the project director researched applicable material on personal evangelism. Particular attention was given to principles, problems, and the presentation of the personal evangelism encounter. Second, the project director developed curriculum to teach a series of lessons on personal evangelism. Six lessons were developed and administered over a three-week period. The lessons equipped deacons to engage in personal evangelism. Third the project director's presentation and content of lessons were evaluated at the conclusion of the project. It looks at the history of Christian witness to Muslims and suggests that relational and contextually sensitive approaches be employed in the presentation of biblical truths. An evangelistic Bible study written to reach literate Afghan Muslims, called The Unfolding Story, serves as the core of the project. It employs a whole Bible approach providing lessons from creation to Pentecost. Lessons progress chronologically through salvation themes, in particular sacrifice motifs from the Old Testament, culminating in the substitutionary death of Christ on the Cross. The problem of sin is especially highlighted as are the attempts to overcome sin by one's own efforts. Throughout the study, storytelling and guided discussion in a one-on-one encounter with an Afghan seeker has been employed. This dissertation project was designed to increase the passion for lost souls in the heart of every participant in an Apostolic Leadership Model. The thirteen participants visited two apostolic churches, met in monthly meetings for two years, and read about apostolic churches that reach unchurched thousands. Semi-structured interviews were used to measure the effectiveness of the study on thirteen pastors.
