The study holds that such relating is facilitated when couples are encouraged to tell their story in the context of the living tradition of the church.  The study is exploratory, seeking to uncover dynamics and concepts relevant to story-based marriage preparation.  It employs a phenomenological method to follow the journey of four couples through a program based on Cooper and Navone's narrative theology. It uses the liturgical rites of the Lenten phase of the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA).  The biblical and theological foundations of the project develop the understanding of faith in a holistic way which involves the whole person, mind, heart and will.  They lead him or her to carry out works of justice.
