The project was designed to teach parents some basic principles of Christian nurture, from a Wesleyan, theological perspective, informed by developmental theory. The child-rearing motifs of John Wesley were taught within the structural-developmental framework of James W Fowler's faith development theory, to inform parents of some of the theological and psychological factors necessary for a more informed nurture of Christian faith in their children. The project was carried out through a series of seminars conducted at the First Church of the Nazarene in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Included are lesson plans and details of activities for one full year of the program with reports on what actually happened during those classes and activities. It is the writer's hope to involve the reader with him in the attempt to understand how operational faith is nurtured in Christian young people. Their effectiveness would be enhanced if they examined their faith journeys and forged a cooperative partnership with their church.  The method of study was a combination of a learning-support group of parents who met to share needs and concerns and to test resources developed with a survey of selected parents in three different-sized United Methodist congregations.
