Some campus ministers work out of no clear conceptual model while doing ministry. Others work out of a variety of models such as the priest/preacher, the evangelist, the prophet and the counselor. Each of these models has strengths and limitations as we shall attempt to demonstrate. Beyond this, it is my conviction that the paradigm of the sage is able to enrich each model. This project paper focuses on the three major Old Testament works of wisdom: Ecclesiastes, Job, Proverbs; indirectly on wisdom Psalms; plus on elements of wisdom in the New Testament.Closely related to the matter of models of ministry is the issue of self-identity in ministry. Campus ministers often suffer from identity confusion. They serve in a setting of faculty, staff, and students. The campus minister bears similarity to each of these, yet is none of them. The campus minister teaches, administers programs and continually learns. Still the minister realizes that none of these functions fully describes one's professional identity. Who then really is the campus minister? I want to argue that the biblical sage offers itself as a congenial and productive identity model for campus ministers."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Western Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["c24f9e0f-f5f0-45a3-b7f1-6a406c6902fb"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791135560101789696,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:53:00.871Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:46:17Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:55:41Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"fcdbe87b-9180-4e66-8e10-c68e5295dab0","accessControl_ssim":["7da54240-3510-41aa-b8ef-088ec06dbedf"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Raising faith-full children : a handbook for parents of early adolescents"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:46:16Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T05:21:43Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["4c670903-bbb1-4772-bb9e-88c974c06cc3"],"hasLease_ssim":["5e9292a8-3869-4989-ba20-3e45f6341b4b"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Western Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["George Brown Jr"],"year_tesim":["1987"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. The project uses Arnold van Gennep's theory that rites of passage follow a universal tripartite rhythm of separation, transition, and incorporation. The process must occur if a person is to make the transition from one stage of life to another. One of the more important life crises, or transitions, is the coming of age. This project unites the concepts of faith development theory and practice into a plan which facilitates the young confirmand's necessary movement through separation from childhood, transitional learning, and incorporation into the body of Christ as a new being."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Candler School of Theology"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["1e360310-aec8-4e88-a19a-00b4db71ef4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791135091020267521,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:45:33.520Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T23:34:51Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:10:29Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"e8639c6c-e4b8-4034-b229-f6bdc8f5f44a","accessControl_ssim":["1b2804eb-a39e-46f6-8f97-3aab1bae58b2"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Ministering to adolescents in an institutional setting"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T23:34:50Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:47:08Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["dff68be4-5474-4259-a279-8ed66dfde611"],"hasLease_ssim":["3c2dc225-5829-4b7f-952a-813ea22603bb"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Western Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Elton M Eenigenburg"],"year_tesim":["1987"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Cleo VanderMolen Ludwick"],"publisher_tesim":["Western Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Mental health","Religion","Faith development","Spiritual formation","Church work with youth"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project is a descriptive design of ministry to adolescents who are institutionalized for treatment of emotional and behavioral problems. The success of the methodology was attested to by expressions of increased faith in God and in greater commitment to loving people through the Church."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Pittsburgh Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31bd5819-b5a3-4928-96d5-b581f38b637b"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791127681363869696,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:47:47.120Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T23:27:44Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:19:00Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"3b8c9f3f-ef2b-4a87-8a09-c45c7bd452fa","accessControl_ssim":["2299ec86-5fcd-4c7c-b451-9fc235161944"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Faith stage hermeneutics: a test case: I John 4:1-6"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T23:27:43Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:51:31Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["e2912451-d471-41a7-8812-9e176405d6cd"],"hasLease_ssim":["a1ea034a-5fa6-4110-9fdf-2d2547b5c4ba"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago"],"advisor_tesim":["Paul Bauermeister"],"year_tesim":["1987"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Arthur Callesen"],"publisher_tesim":["Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago"],"subject_tesim":["Hermeneutics","Faith development","Fowler, James W","Bible--Epistle of John I"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Is James Fowler's Faith Stages Theory (FST) another hermeneutical tool?
