This project focuses on families in a particular congregation, and upon the noticeable impact of intentional Sabbath practices within their homes. The Participatory Action Research model of qualitative research is utilized in the development of this project. After surveying his context, the author facilitated a series of presentations on Sabbath. Following an extended period of time for participants to engage Sabbath practices, further data is collected. The before and after data are contrasted. This study connects pilgrimage with the contemporary theological dialogue about Christian practices, particularly relying on the work of Dorothy Bass. The research examines one congregation's exploration of pilgrimage. Through classes and methods of spiritual awareness, participants showed, from pre-test to post-test, significant change in understanding and moving Christian principles into praxis. It looked at how they changed as a result of that practice.  The Christian spiritual participation profile was used to measure the balance of and depth of participation in: their experience with God, their critical reflection of culture and self, their interaction with God's Word, and their relationship with others. It was developed by Pastor Malaku Mekuria for the members of this church, so as to be effective and fruitful members of the body of Christ as they ministry in the church. Nine people from Maranatha Fellowship were trained for seven weeks in the subject of the discovery of spiritual gifts. Leaders who participated in a thirteen-week small group used the Renovation of the heart curriculum by Dallas Willard. The participants completed pre and post-assessment surveys to ascertain whether the small group impacted the leaders and whether the goals of the project were met. The paper incorporates a qualitative research method to help adherents explore instinctive and counterintuitive approaches -- to affirm one's innate spiritual tendencies and intentionally stretch beyond them. The results indicated that there was such a relationship.  In other words, more spiritual maturity meant a more positive coping with the challenges of aging.  Spiritual maturity was determined by measuring a set of spiritual attitudes and spiritual practices.
